ZZZ market Day was AMAZING

Wow.. Saturday just gone was 4ZZZ Market day, a local music festival put on by the local independant radio station. Its a fairly large even in the Brisbane music scene featuring all kinds of music on various stages over the day.. mostly local, but some interstate and international bands too..
We managed to get on the list this year and played early to a small but responsive crowd that grew as we played. Quite a few techincal difficulties at the start but once we got sorted it was all good!
There were quite possibly around 50 bands playing on the day, hi-lights being Kid 606, Drop the Lime from NY ( who put on a great show and really showed how to be electronic and still have a stage presence ), Curseovdilect ( avant multicultural hip hop ), Butterfingers ( local hero's ), Ponyloaf ( again local heroes but electronic ) and the hugely entertaining The disables who i almost broke my nose too after getting a knee in the face in the mosh pit. Donning grid-iron helmets they egged the crowd into a bottle throwing frenzy ( the hard glass kind, was totally insane ) ive never seen a drummer move so fast ;)
The highlight of the night tho was the amazing live dnb/jungle/dub set from the Bird, who are a 4 piece made up of live drummer doing breaks, keyboardist, double bass player ( who was on this bizzare long and flat 200 yr old double bass ) and a tabla player...
they put together this insane set that worked the crown into a dancing frenzy, the drummers breaks were amazing and everything was so smooth you could have sworn it was electo..
