Cheapest Solution for Pro Tools. Sigh... My feelings are; not a bad
sound but kinda thin.

I'm wondering what are your favorite pre's? Nueve, Green River, R.N.P,
focusrites? How about for the price? I've heard good things about Mackie's Onyx pre's too. What do you all use? Please show links.

Btw, I haven't met my favorite pre yet.

I have to say that anything apogee is sweet. But I am poor and can only use them when someone lets me use them... sigh...

Speaking of apogee have you ever seen this?

I just got a Manley VOXBOX and it sounds really wonderful. Very natural but also quite fat when you want it to be.

Ooooooooooh, that thing looks nice!!! Send me some samples!!!!!!

i use the soundcraft spirit live desk pres. they are quite nice. got a big fat eq on it.

i love the neve clone that keaton has at his studio. that thing ROCKS for vocals. oof. the combo of that and a u87 = *CUMSHOT*.

the least favorite ne has to be the presonus something or other (related to the current "digitube", me thinks). audio goes in, recitifed distorted cylinders of shit come out.
i use neve 1073, 1066 & 1084 pre's along with an API console at one of the studios i work out of. nothing bad with any of those. i own some demeter tube pre's, sytek solid state pre's and some top secret stuff i can't talk about right now. they all have certain characters and flavors that i like to pick and choose from.

ultimately, though, mic choice, mic placement and the sound of the instrument being recorded are probably FAR greater of a factor on what the final sound will be.

Top secret, lol.

So what mics do you prefer, coupled?

coupled with what? i like the mic that works best for the given situation and that will probably change the next time i'm in that same position.

I found an amazing pre-amp, Chameleon Labs makes it link

It sounds so amazingly close to a Neve.

True Bleen. Every situation is diffrent. I meant for general use. Any Mic favs for vocals,
acoustics ect?
Lowlifi that looks sick. You say Just as nice as Neve.... but i notice the price tag isnt as
damaging as most Neve pre's, cool. You own one?

Lowlifi, those samples sound nice!!!
