i lost the drive to keep all my gear covered a long time ago. all my precious synths and drum machines were getting pretty dusty.
i brought a synth to my parent's place a month or so ago just to jam on and my mom was horrified at how dusty it was. she produced a polywool duster which lifted about 2 years of dust off the control panel, all around and between the knobs and sliders, in about 10 seconds.
i finally got one of my own and cleaned my whole studio today. i shall never have a dusty studio again.

how do u propose keeping dust off without a duster?
those are ionizers are MUCHO bad for your helth (and eat rubber)
...
and those fancy other ones that are OK, cost 600bux.
i have so much dust and cat hair and dog hair and other particulates floating around.. drives me the nuts

I use a 1" paintbrush to clean all my gear with. Really handy for doing big desks with as well as you can get around all the matrixes of aux & EQ knobs. Great on synths as you can get right into all the nooks on the keys etc.

good idea zanf. never thought of that. the poly duster does the whole thing in a few seconds. i was pretty impressed.
i have no solution for keeping dust off, other than covering everthing in bedsheets when you're not using it.
but now, a monthy wipe with the magic poly duster and everything will be super clean.

swiffer is a joke if you have animals.
it just pushes the hair around.

Since I only have one piece of gear which is a horribley cheap and clunky (yet effective) MIDI controller I just throw a towel over it when Im not using it. Easier than cleaning.

yeah those things are the shit, i can dust my entire room in about a minute with one. also when i was at college doing film, i had to make a 30 second commercial for one of those. i had it hanging from the ceiling with fishing wire and a load of people kneeling down worshipping it with don caballero playing in the background.
