--> For my entire career as an IDM/Noise enthusiast on the internets, I've partaken, often, in the genocidal, universal, 0 tolerance, hatred towards trance.
Maybe I'm exaggerating.
But it seems like trance is by far the most hated genre in "intelligent" electronic music circles.

6 months ago I started throwing small raves. Since then, I've begun to love trance, more and more. I'm now at a point where I listen to trance as much as I listen to any other type of music.

I don't know whether I would have liked it all along if I'd heard what I listen to now, or if I just needed an immersive experience for me to give the stuff a chance, but... I just fucking love it.

And what's worse is that I like a lot of typically bad trance. Like, vocal melodic trance. Anthem trance. UPLIFTING trance. But, I have some taste. I still avoid Tiesto and Van Buren like the plague...

It's just... I fell weird falling in love with something I've actively despised for so long. Is anybody with me on this?

Does anybody else secretly indulge in the sinful pleasure of trance?

there's a single trance trak that i really like, it's a remix of orbit's cover of barber's adagio for strings. the main motive is transcribed marvellously to a nice saw-lead arpegio. the thing that makes the song good is barber's chord changes.

i have a feeling that there is some more trance out there tha ti like, but i haven't found it. i have found rather a large volume of trance that i dislike intensely, however :\

yeah I'm with you on it, and it's not a secret. I like gabriel and dresden, and marcus shultz. Stuff with interesting melodies. I like to listen to it while I'm working because I can mentally move it into the background, and somehow it gives me focus. In a weird way, I probably owe my continued employment to trance music. Like anything, there's good and bad within the genre. I've always thought it was kinda dumb to run down all trance just because some of it is pointless and silly.

I think elitism plays a role in those who run it down, but elitism among music people and computer people-- sadly it comes with the territory. Another important fact that people tend to overlook is trance is first and foremost dance music, not goatee-stroking thinkin' music. It is what it is.

well, i like bluegrass.

In Australia, it's all about trance. or breaks. or trancey breaks.

lol. this is funny becasue happy hardcore is one of my guilty pleasures.

its just so crazy and fast ...

Yeah everyone should like what they like and not have to feel like it's a disease.

thing is lots of trance is ridiculously bad. i like some 1993-1995 trance

don't feel to bad, I like sex with manatees.
watch out for speedboats.

yes, incredibly shitty music is fun to listen to, like realy shitty b movies are fun to watch.

i like phil collins. as long as no one likes nickelback we cool. i remembered them yesterday after hearing a song on the radio....oh my.

some trance is awesome, it's where i started out back in '96. then gatecrasher gave it all a bad name.

it's probably 50% nostalgia but i remember 'flying rhino' and 'transient' releasing quality vinyl. the whole cyberpunk look made it embarrassing but the hippies are still going strong in manchester and bristol. for a while the harder acid-techno sound was more popular, labels like 'stay-up-forever' and the liberator dj's (incuding manchester havok records)and lab-4 (dopeness) - but it seems to have quietened down again and gone back to it's roots.

Hallucinogen's Lone Deranger was a key record for me for sure.

mlbot's em411 rules have a strict no trance policy.
also, many people loves the B T here on em411 ... lol.
mostly now I am leaning back to blues and jazz and dabble in electro=genres a little in between. including trance. both decades.
