I always dig these interactive installations. I don't buy into his concept of the hex representation of a website and the ability to make waves as a good abstraction of the net as a bunch of waves though.

That guy has got some mad skills. Some of the images remind me of game Rez.

some very interesting stuff here. thank you for the linkage.

peace

Yeah, not so hot on the concept, but it sure is beautiful.

double whammy post again.

Wow. I like his ideas very much. Drifting versus surfing. Having a physically immersive experience rather than just an interactive one through the GUI of a web browser. We surf the web but we cannot dip our toes in it. I think the movie makes his points more clear. Anyway - it certainly gives rise to some interesting ideas.

I have dreamed about the possibility of manipulating sound the same way a ceramics artist does with clay on a wheel. Presently sound can interact with us directly but we cannot interact with it directly. We need some sort of instrument such as vocal chords, hands, feet, drums, guitars, computers, etc. in order to create sound but we cannot directly do anything with it once it is created. How cool would it be if we were able to immediately capture with our bare hands the sound we create for further manipulation? What does sound feel like, holding it in the palms of your hands? Maybe molding sound with our bare hands wouldn't always be the best way to achieve what we were after, and so sometimes we would take the sound we have and chew on it for awhile to soften it up a little. Clearly we would also have to be able to have tactile control over time as well -- at least. Seems like we would need to be civilization Type III creatures in order to do this - or gods - but it is fun to think about.
