Electronic Music 411 - NERDcore for Life - dorks, nerds, dorkumentary, trailer

it seems weird that nerdcore doesn't embrace IDM. like, when I think "hiphop for nerds" I think of Machinedrum. but all those beats sound like the same generic stuff that wannabe gangstas rap over.

although i support rapping and nerd things, labeling oneself "nerdcore" seems like the "gansta" rap label in the 90's hyperbole to a great extent.

also, some of these nerdocre folk embrace the term "geek" which im against.

I get the impression though that most of these people aren't true nerds or geeks,
but rather try to be.
It seems that being a geek has become cool (hasn't done me any favours

)
And of course, when something is cool, people want to be part of it.

I've heard that criticism before but I just don't see/hear it in relation to the music. maybe what I'm thinking of isn't really IDM? or maybe I've been sniffing my own farts too much.

the 'nerdcore' label itself seems to contradict what the one guy says in the vid about nerdcore not being a parody.
