So next year i'm gonna be putting on some events to promote my band's new album (DL from link and i came up with what i reckon is a really good idea for the visual style of the decor etc....
Most club nights you go to it's all multicoloured lights, disco style, mirror ball, snazzy visuals (either morphing 3d shapes or clips of breakdancers and old cartoons), big bright banners etc, it looks like being in an arndale centrewith all the crimbo decorations up, right?
Well my plan is thus. we're quite a dark sounding band and it's a small venue.
-Speaker stacks enveloped in black cloth sweeping back to cover the table the decks are on, into a nest around the stage.
-monocromatic projections of clips of B&W horror films, Dr Zhivago, early hitchcock clips, Dr caligari, nosferatu etc.
-big white banner featuring B&W cover artwork from album (see picture)
- two small shit strobe lights at back of stage set to quite slow adding disorientating pulses.
- possibly one red lightbulb somewhere to increase the sinister atmosphere.
so there you go. i'm quite excited personally. intense, brooding, forboding? or cheesy and obvious? we'll be playing some fucking nasty / wierd / prog rock / rub a dub / noisy / alarming music and having guest bands on too. (possibly guest lappy sets depending on licencing hours...)
