verdict:
the best thing about this setup is, by far, being able to see outside, have the sun on my face in the afternoon if i want. very good for the soul. also, i have good surveillance of our outdoor parking spot, so if someone tries to take it, i can run down hooting like a pale baboon before they walk away.
the worst thing about this setup, by far, is that i can't hear the bass (probably because i'm sitting in a nasty standing wave). the nextdoor neighbor hears it much better than me and contributes mixing advice by pounding on the wall.
gear:
mac g4 "teh oldzorz" model. running protools le 5.1 (that is the model # NOT some kind of surround sound thing). the blue box is a digi 001 with patented fuzzy® second channel.
on the desk, underneath the 001, is some kind of midi fx box which i don't know how to use-it just holds up the digi 001. then the big keyboard is an axiom 49 that i just got. to the right is a peavey 1600x.
two computer keyboards and two mouses for the two putes.
other puter is a P4 tower with decent specs-it's about a year old. that runs the g2 editor, ableton, and gigastudio. sitting on top of that-the red box, is the famed g2 engine.
not shown in the pic are a tx81z, a vz10m (which i don't use anymore) and a desktop evolver (living room table for fun). | |
