--> I have kinda had the idea for a while to make business cards for myself just as an electronic musician. I actually got the idea from that stupid "bad-ass MC" kid in Mean Girls (I can hear the moans) but once I thought about it seemed like a decent idea.

It would just have my name, some stupid/fake job title mockery, and then website address(s) and email addresses. No fancy graphics, just simple raised black ink on nice cardstock. It'd be used to hand out to people who like your music (If you actually make music and people know about it, this happens all the time I find), or to stick on boards at Cheapo to get attention, or whatever.

But this just seems to pretentious in a way, or too bold or strange. What would your reaction be to somebody who did this? What if they pushed them hard like a product? What if they were pretty low-key about their cards but just happened to have them if you asked about their music? I'd definitely be humble about it myself, but it seems useful and handy. Hmmm...

my friends with studios have cards.
You never know if you'll need to get a seriously drunk person's wallet by trading them for yours with
just your business card in it.

yeah I like the studio angle, that's just good business for a studio operator for sure. I'm kinda wondering about the no-name artist with business card appeal

i have one for computer repairs and for construction work. no cards for musics for me.
i just use myspace for the digital business card. no paperwork for me..
i wonder... most night-club booking agents have a rolodex / computer file with people.
you might do one page at a printing place as an experiment. never know....

I was thinking of ordering a minimum batch of 250 or something online for around $20-$30 depending on what websites I find, not too much to lose

i've got business cards for my band.
it's good for when you are talking to some drunk at a party who seems interested in your music.
why not?

I wouldn't go out just handing them out like flyers, but if someone has a genuine interest in your style, it's much better than a napkin.

why not?! do it. I have one for my acting and it's helped me immensely. maybe your card will help get in touch with other people who want to talk shop, want to keep up on your music, or get gigs. who knows until you try it.

i use psprint

how sweet would it be to have a business card that played a tune when you touched it? one of your tunes

for as many times that i've been in a situation that would require a card, that would surely make a huge impact. how much would those be? a dollar a card?

just have a simple '(name)'s music:' type of heading to remind ppl what it's about, and include url and email. drunk ppl will not remember addresses.

Well it an idea like all other to get some peoples to listen to your music if you think that it might help you well go for it

mabye just something simple.. err . i know the exmples a bit lame .. but ...... rember in oceans 11? whats hi name ocean hands somon a card at some point and all it says is his first and last name ... it was a very nice lookin card though :P

mabye you could do somthing like that with your name and website, and anything else you REALLy needed to put on there could just be written on the back..... that way you could be subtle about it .. or somthing ...

i guess i would just be slightly embarrased about hading out cards that said ..

colin johnson
electronic musician

I've thought about this too. but I was gonna put a link to some tracks to download (the name and contact would be on the site, that way the cards are ultra simple). Then it's not about my name it's about my music.

Awsome ideas. I like the ideas of a minimal card that leaves stuff to the imagination, makes people want to dig.
