--> I'm signing a lease tomorrow for a loft in brooklyn between east williamsburg and bushwick. Next I need to find a job, but in the meantime, I'd like to start finding some places my flatmates and I can check out some good em shows. We're definitely more interested in shows that lean to the experimental side. Also, we're incredibly poor. Any suggestions? I've heard about "the tank" and zorn's "stone"...

Splice NYC do a nice night devoted to live electronic stuff every two weeks at Solas in the east village.

Their website doesn't have much info but a google search might turn something up:

Hey Tripnik, how much is the rent there?

I wish I lived in New York

hey, i really want to know how much is it so i can come there as well....
and Paul, maybe you can come aswell?

Hell yeh, if only I was a little richer

mmm.. yap, i think it's quite expensive over there.. but what Tripnik says is him and his friend are quite poor so maybe there's a chance..

hey...sorry...we just moved into the new place today so I finally have an internet connection again. It was a bit touch and go for awhile there. Anyway, 3 of my friends and I got a HUGE loft in Brooklyn for $2000 (all utilities included). It's a bit more expensive than a lot of places, but job pay pretty well here (so I hear at least). I have to start looking for work as soon as I get a bit more settled, so I'll let you know how that goes. If you're strapped for cash, pretty much forget about living in manhattan, but there are plenty of places close the city that are affordable. I moved here with an electro-acoustic improvisation group so it was a bit harder for us to find an apartment. We needed a place that had enough rooms for all of us, a space that would allow us to make a lot of noise and not piss off the neighbors, and somewhere decently close to performance venues so we can hopefully occasionally gig. If you're making music by yourself, or doing completely electronic stuff, you could find an even cheaper place in a nicer neighborhood.

Thanks for the venue suggestions! As soon as I get some more $$$ I'll start checking them out.

Praveen...any chance you'd like to host an event for us sometime? :D We haven't played together for like a year, so we need some time to get things together again, but we'll be looking for gigs soon if you're interested.

Doron: What line is the Montrose stop on? I'm closest to the J/M and G.

$2000 for 4 people, utilities included is good. It's no more than here in Rome.

it's more than I pay, but for NYC it sounds killer good luck with the job-hunt Tripnik!
