--> it seems highly acclaimed producer hiphop / rnb / pop producer timbaland has been doing a fitts for fight and stealing and profiting from chiptune artists work...

read the full story (and hear the stolen song in all its forms) here :

it seems he has played back the .sid file, muted the drum channel and sampled the c64 version wholesale, chucked his own drums over the top then taken the credit for writing it the thing is if he had sourced a similar-sized loop such from a vinyl lp you can bet the credit for sampling would be given and royalties paid. sad. i like some of tims work but this is pretty darn shady. he even sold the beat twice!

tsk. tsk. tsk.

"decided not to pursue legal action"? wtf? Does he hate money or something?

cheeky. doesnt surprise me though.

BULLSHITT!!!! he could get a whole fucking OFFICE of lawyers to do that shit pro-bono!!!!! not to mention the press it would get!

i'd go for a law action.

copyright in this case is fairly simple. as the tune has been published before.

he'd win in a minute i guess

damn.....i thought we had something.
its over now

what do you mean it;s over?

for some reason i despise the man

That finish guy got the $$$ and now he is cruising on puff daddy's yacht in the pacific ocean clicking chiptunes for timbaland.
wwwwwooooooo nelly. he could have at least changed the instrumentation or somethin.

what a fucker

No man totally no way to change the instrumentation without losing the X factor.

i have no qualms with uncredited sampling personally, but when the only ppl you pay to use their samples are already rich, then you're an ass of the highest degree. It's not like he doesn't have the money to give respect where respect is due.

just goes to show that 'micromusic' is fair game, so everybody keep an eye out so that none of use gets screwed/misses out on some serious royalties.

wow. that's prety shameless and lame. nicking asmaple from a record or whatever is one thing but horking somebody else's creation is ridiculous. at least give credit where it's due. even if timbaland has enough lawyers to skirt around actually paying royalties he could at least drop their names or something. super lame. all for nelly furtado. hozers.

So if someone decides to...say 'sample' the riff from that Nelly Furtado song he has produced ... do you think he would try and sue?
