--> Okay so I lied. Taken via the ever crappy Intel PC Camera Pro. Here's couple shots of the creative environment. You can see the Behringer DX052 dj mixer, DR-202, Akai S20, the keyboard that time forgot a Technics KN-1000. I'm just starting to use this stuff outside just wanking around with it. There's also a cheap soundblaster usb audio interface, a microcassette recorder, and a cd walkman. Can't forget the stereo dynamics controller I have yet to use (not sure it even works) due to lack of proper cables. Not pictured is the Edirol UM1-ex. I know it's a sad excuse for gear porn but hey, with standards this low your never really disappointed.

Also just wondering if any of you guys had any tips for getting the best outta this minimal setup I got here. I've taken to sequencing the 202 in FL Studio and recording the sequences to the 202. Going crazy trying to find a manual for the KN1000. Can't find anything that'll let me make samples and programs for the S20 on my pc (where all my loops are). It's all either Linux or Windows 9x/Dos based and won't do shit on XP.

good for really crappy voice samples

I like to just press record at random times. Let it run for a bit and see what I got. When you live with room mates you get all kinds of oddball shit like that.

you could probably find an old computer that you could put windows bc/msdos on for almost nothing. check craigslist in the free section daily. sometimes people will have ancient shit that they're just giving away for free.

i want bigger pix next time

lol that old technics. those things are rare, huh. haha.

i could imagine you pwning the crap out of buzz.

LOL, amateur gear pr0n.

MEET THE SYNTH NEXT DOOR

t'aint nothin' wrong with that

yes. ditto old computer. possibly thrift stores. there's a couple within 8 block of my house that will regularly dish out the $30 PC.
my cell phone can take worse pcitures that your cam. nice pics. thanks for sharing. miss the studio pictures section of 3m411

buy an acoustic and mic.

hey I get alot of use out of my DR202, I don't think its crappy at all, but definatly outdated sounding, somethings will never change, like drummachines that sound out dated.

It does sound a bit dated but with enough tweaking it's useful enough to keep around.

"buy an acoustic and mic"
I really tried to get into playing guitar, even bass. Just wasn't for me, I gotta have keys...or pads.

man, that is a nice setup. I wish I had not fried my S20, that thing had some serious lo-fi appeal. Do you have a turntable for sampling as well? Also, what kind of software are you using, or is this an all hardware excursion.

Do you have a sepiatone filter in your photo program.

You've already almost got an Olde Tyme Studio look with that wall paint color.

@jonbro
no turntable, i sample from the 202 the cd walkman or the microcassette recorder. In the software dept. I have two setups I use, one is all free software the other is the nice expensive shit. Expensice shit: Reason 3, Recycle, FL Stduio 6, and sometimes Acid 6. Free shit: ModPug Tracker, Kristal Audio Engine, Ableton Live Lite 5, Audacity, VST/i's out the wazoo. I do however (once I finish the Ep I'm working on and get a hold of a synth Korg ea-1 most likely) plan to switch to linux and use mostly hardware and the computer will become the hard disk recorder.

@mlbot
no sepia filter, just bad lighting and a shitty webcam

Come to think of it, I'd trade all this stuff for an SP-404, or a Korg ESX. But, then again who wouldn't?
