--> More signal and less noise, right guys?

Hardware:
---------

19-inch LCD
A big LCD is a must when you're staring at a screen for hours. LCDs are easier on the eyes.

KRK Rokit 6 monitors
Sweet, just sweet. And white. Nearfield so I don't bug the neighbors too much.

Korg padKontrol
I can't sing the praises of this thing enough. So customizable it's ridiculous (16 unique scenes). Synths, pads, drums, this thing does it all. And an X-Y to boot.

M-Audio O2
Simple. Honestly, I'm not much of a knob-turner when it comes to my keyboards - I like drawing and programming automation. Two octaves, check. Quick transpose, check. Modulation, check. A few buttons for mapping, check. Moving on.

Dual Core 3.2, 2 gig 'puter
Fast. Real-time VSTs, effects and mastering without freezing or mixdown - priceless.

Edirol UA-25 audio interface
Built-in preamp, phantom power and soft compression/limiting. This thing is surprisingly sufficient. Add in 24bit and 96khz and you've got a winner.

Grado SR-60 headphones
Like with wine, you don't necessarily get what you pay for. These beat most phones under $100, $200 and even $300 (Bose, I'm looking in your direction). Completely torches my Shure E3s at about 1/3 the price.

MXL 990 condenser mic
Definitely not the best mic in the world, but it's a decent condenser for under $100.

Yamaha Keyboard
When two hands are needed. Purely a MIDI input.

Roland TD-3
I started off drumming but it's mainly for Ss and Gs these days. Load a nice kit into Battery and you can very nearly approximate the dynamics of a live kit (with quality mapping).

Software:
---------

Cubase SX
Everyone's got their favorite - this happens to be mine.

Reason
Rewired into Cubase. Don't make the mistake of running Reason as a stand-alone.

Tons of plugins and VSTs
Waves, PSP, NI, Arturia, Korg... I could go on and on.

now that is a minimal setup

nice

you should smash a window into that wall, though.

Nice. nice orderly setup, clean and neat.

@astroid

I was going to post a "cons" part but decided against it - lack of a viewing area would be numero uno. Though I must admit that it keeps me focused.

LOL I have that little globe in my studio. I think my grandma got it for free by subscribing to too many magazines.

Windows glare off the computer screen. What he needs are posters. And a cat.

fucking hotshit man..

i love the WHITE.. (not that im racist)

wow awesome, sanks... love the em drumset - so jealous (not of the carpet though lol)

nice signal... studio pics

yes! nice and minimal. those drums look like good fun. cool white monitors!

padkontrol - you likes, eh? have you tried anything else like the mpc's or triggerfinger, or the pads on the microkontrol? wondering how the pads and latency of the padkontrol compares to those. being a drummer i guess i can trust you. ;-)

so, even with those cool drums do you use the padkontrol more for drum sound programming?
looks wicked
i love your minimal setup

and thoise white krks

Pad kontrol looks wicked! I must get one!

me2!

nice set up man, killer.

@playertwo: yep, those are the mopads. they are perfect. they come in 4 "sides," which lets you place them at the edges of two monitors. for each pad there is a wedge in there that allow you to position it in 8 different positions for different angles (facing up 8 degrees, up 4, flat, down 4 and down 8). i definitely suggest them.

@bbwax: the padkontrol is impressive, even on the very edges and tips of the pads. quality. i've tried others, such as the triggerfinger - doesn't compare to the response of the padkontrol. latency is also a non-issue.

more about the mopads: link

your studio is disgustingly clean.

at least you're not using a mac.

how are those monitors? I really really really need some.
