(sigh)..... dumb hip hop producers......... I've lost a great deal of respect for him.
part of me just thinks that alot of it is that he doesn't really know much better. (he's stupid)
all this just goes to show that black people steal.
(please god know that's a joke)
P.S. sampled.

i'd like to see someone "sample" his tracks, put out a compilation, and then give the proceeds to the finnish guy. (although on second thought that would probably hurt his defense)

I don't get what the big deal is. He sampled something...every hip hop producer I know steals shit openly from vinyl (some pay for their stuff most try to get away with it). Is it more of a concern here because he stole something from someone producing c64 stuff? Sampling is part of hip-hop as is not adhering to the system (licensing fees). It's like being pissed/losing respect at/for pauls boutique... It doesn't take away from art if the loops are stolen. How many "amen" tracks you guys done? I've done shit loads...and I've never paid for it. How's this different?
finish dudes'll get money, just like every other time someone gets caught.

if that radio host says "right" one more time.....
"right aint no country I ever heard of motherfucker....go on....I dare you....say "right" one more fucking time".
So the difference between stealing and sampling is that you have to go to someones house and see them working the protools and then rush home and knock it up where as sampling it VERBATIM isnt?
you fat stupid crappy fucking useless RnB shitface mumbling talentless full of shit idiot cunt.
btw patrick, Ive never even chopped up the Amen break to play with it. the difference is that he RIPPED something and someone off and passed it off as his OWN. Whereas all the peopel that sample shit up are giving a nod to where it comes from. his excuse is that he has fat libraries of samples that he dont know where htey come from and if they are public or private domain. Well, I aint no lawyer but that pisspoor excuse aint standing up in thick shit let alone a court.

yes well, maybe the moral element has been diluted, but the legal element has not.
remember "the verve"? that rolling stones sample cost them their careers.
timba is doing damage control, looking tough. he knows damn well that he's going to have to at least settle out of court. this is so he looks cool to the people that still look up to him. that said, he probably could have done it a bit better.

the big deal is that he "sampled" pretty much an entire track. there's another video floating around on youtube comparing them both.

P- he didn't just sample something (even then most hip hop producers give vredit and have to get the sample cleared for use in their track).. timbaland stole this guys whole song.. put it out on a ring tone then used the basis of the track for a nelly furtado song. he thinks because it's on the internet it's free game. ridiculous.
i dont know if you saw the link here that showed all the versions of the song and it's uses but you should take a look.
link
everyone knows sampling is part of hip hop. everyone knows that up and coming producers get their stuff jacked by more established producers (which sucks but seems to be a standard operating practice).
this whole case has the potential to set a precedent on internet copyright issues related to music. do you forfit the rights to your intelectual property by posting it on the web? isn't that creative sommons license their for a reason? timbaland seem pretty ignorant of the interwebs and how things work from a nerd/gek standpoint and probably doesn't get the idea of the internet as a community.. which is his own fault (but i'm sure he doesn't have time to geek out on the web). he also doesn't seem to understand that the guy's song is not from a video game.
anyway- it's pretty lame what he did.

i think he knows full well it isnt from a video game. Just like he knows that his libraries are full of non-public domain stuff.
Just as you said earlier - its damage limitation and if that show was going to get into a fair discussion about the issue, they should have had the Finnish guys on to discuss the other side of the story - or even allowed them to respond to his BS on a later show. but what TimbafatArse is trying to do is throw enough mud to cloud the issue beforehand.
To me, he is still a fat talentless idiotic useless cunt though and always will be.
