--> the other night i had a chance to see ceephax acid crew (andy jenkinson) at a club in daikanyama, tokyo.

i would have to say it was the best show i have seen in recent memory.

mr. jenkinson, with his contingent of roland warriors (among them being his two 303s, an sh-101, and the legendary 909) treated me and my japanese friends to the most blissed-out acid trip that i have ever experienced. for two hours it was non-stop dancing - a veritable freak out. people even started moshing... jeez, at an electronic music show? no wimpy chin scratchers with their laptops here. just pure, analog dirtiness. on top of that mr. jenkinson adorned himself with x-mas tree lighting and shouted at the crowd with a megaphone, with enough dexterity to crank the resonance knob and hammer out irreverant leads on the 101.

he even threw on one of his chiptune bangers, which had a real catchy melody and baroque arpeggiations - further confirmation of his genius. i almost shat my pants. that would have been seriously embarassing. but fortunately i was able to control my bowels and excreted sweat instead, dancing like a maniac.

i even had a chance to talk to the guy. he attentively listened to all of my frivolous gear talk and accepted my unqualified praise in stride. i thought about handing a demo to him, but realizing his greatness after his show, i decided my stuff was not worthy enough. maybe next time... if there is a next time.

well, if any of you have a chance to see ceephax acid crew, i would highly recommend it. fucking genius! oh and here is a link to ceephax's homepage. he has some interesting audio experiments on there that are worth checking out.

sweet! wish i'd gone!

if you're still in tokyo - check out this event tonight at superdeluxe in nishi-azabu (near roppongi)

no pawl, i digress. i think that the users of em411's forum are probably aware of the fact that andy jenkinson is squarepusher's younger brother. furthermore, i think andy jenkinson is an amazing musician in his own right, irrespective of the fact that he is squarepusher's younger brother. shame on you pawl, shame on you!

yeeah skab. way ahead of ya. coppe is a friend of mine. been workin' with her since i got to japan in september. maybe you were there tonight?? probably saw you but wasn't aware at the time...

Ceephax is amazing.

sounds awesome! love it when the headliner really brings the noise!

i heard her mention dylan in the show tonight must've been you! sorry i missed you at superdeluxe. i was wearing a camo jacket and cap. i made a couple of tracks for her on her last release and i'm working on one now for the next one. let's hook up for some beers and a chat. where are you based in tokyo? i'm in shinagawa. good to know there's another em411'er in the j-side

all the best

ivan

PS - i liked the track of yours she played! big phat bass sounds

I heard some ceephax on bleep expecting greatness and was very underwhelmed but I shall listen again- I do love some soul jerking acid. Been listening to Pitcard and Batine Acid a lot recently. Good blog btw.

nice, im totaly gonna try the "total eclispe of the Heart" thing with this girl i know.
he is really good, apparently his new full length is ridiciously amazing. i'm seen him thrice, one time he was just a bit too drunk, but the other 2 were pretty much as you described.

that sounds really awesome, I want to go to Japan (expecially Tokyo) soooo badly. Plus I think Ceephax is better than Squarepusher.

sweet! ... too bad his latest realse was kinda ..... poopie...

awwwwww...nice.

i spent a night with mr.jenkinson jnr, following a gig organised by my girlfriends brother (who is the dubstep god that goes by the name of geiom - if dubstep god not a contradiction in terms - hehe). he played a little casio keyboard he found lying around, all night...rather well too! I think I was the only person that didn't get bored with his plonking

i saw ceephax live a year or two ago and to be honest i was pretty underwhelmed. i really like his older releases (not heard any of his newer stuff) but his set was pretty much your standard breakcore amen madness. he played after like-a-tim that night and tim had already completely rocked the crowd and to me, ceephax sounded a little weak following him...

Seen Andy play many times. Always rocks the crowd in a very enthusiacid way.
