Or more specifically, I want the audio from old commercials. I'm trying to build up a library of commercial samples from the eighties and early nineties that I can use to make a track.
If you have an old tape of some TV and have the time to record it, please, please send me some audio snippets. I don't care about the country, language or product, all I really want is cheesy stuff with that lovely VHS quality (betamax is ok too).
Any file sent will receive a grovelling email of thanks!

i have tried youtube. for this track tho, i'd really love some samples sent in by emmers - things that people have found on old tapes lying around the house. commercials that they loved or hated.
the other thing, is that by the time a video gets put on youtube, it's already been thru at least 2 sets of audio compression, avi/quicktime/mpeg for uploading and the the H263 compression that youtube uses. i know it's geeky, but i just love that vhs 8khz low-pass filter

yeah that was a good one.
i liked the rumbelows one that went something like "dont you pay any more mrs moore, mrs moore please dont pay anymore .... etc etc"
and a beans one that was about some dude that had clipper hands but wanted to play piano. it had a weird ryhme "dy dy dillabopa dee bop, di dy do, woops dilla whoopa juppa...."
i probably have a load of old tapes somewhere but i cant get them into my computer.

This sounds fun. I have hours and hours of tapes from the early eighties of TV--old Tandy tape deck mic'ing the TV set. Maybe I'll load some of these up into sound files and send them your way.

I still can't find many old 80's ads on youtube (but check out the Ken Nordine Levi's ads .. badass).
I still want to find the old Fun Fruits ads. Booberry ads.. Fruit in the middle ..etc

yeah i also have plenty of aussie stuff from the early 1990's ( we couldn't afford a vcr until then). In 1997 i decided to tape 3 hours worth of tv commercials for a forced sense of nostalgia I will put upon myself in 7 years time.

tantan - a mic'd up TV going to a tandy tape deck sounds like some kind of lo-fi audio heaven!
djugel - i just checked out the levi's ad. those are some sweet graphics - and that analogue sweep at the end when the hockey player appears is pure genius
