there are sections of this site. they serve different functions and facilitate different things. releases are for music. we comment on the music. this section is midly broken.
this part is debatable but i'm going for it: blogs are for events, netlabel ep releases, DREAMS, patches, etc. normally, the tagging system would best serve to delineate what is what. until tags are used more/fixed, i personally would recommend a valid blog title. for example: max/msp patch... i've seen it done. my titles are always wrong, but i'm funny like that....
other things that blogs contain are mild discussions on various things ranging from my headache, to site discussions. my personal #1 site wish is that a user could mark a blog public or private. next up: forums
forums? the hell if i know...
HAHA i just wanted to +blog cause i can and am hoping people with more insight/experience and so forth will comment. take care ;D

oh and for the record, i feel as though i don't comment on enuff releases. i feel i don't listen to enuff releases. every time i post a release, i only half take it seriously (if that), because i feel, unfortunately, deep down that "if i don't comment on any1 else's release, why should any1 comment on mine?" actually, i do comment sometimes, but i feel like it's not enuff. i tell myself and others, on occasion, that i'd comment more if the facilities were in better shape. for example, a popup window for the flash player, a different flash player, a direct link on every release without the need for greasemonkey, a ratings sytem, more dynamism of _some_ sort... but alas these are all excuses HAHA... actually they're good ideas, but still excuses nonetheless. it's just not that much fun sometimes to listen/comment on releases, the whole releases section sucks sometimes for me personally. i can't be alone, i know i'm not, and that's fine. i do desire to be more involved in other's releases though. we will see...

ps: thanks to artsigreg for continually bringing this up - i agree it's very important (but disagree that the proper place for it is on another person's blog).

the one thing that kinda bothers me about the "freeforall" release style - I recognize maybe 1 out of every 15 names on releases as someone who I've ever seen on the site before. Seems like so many are just someone who gets a login quick so they can get their song out somewhere. Not that a lot of the stuff isnt good, its just that it used to be so much more personal and sharing each others music was a bigger part of the interaction of the regs.

EDIT: link included omitted .... =)
still rough and has issues, but i love the idea of a callboard for mixits, collabs, etc.
also, adding the module for blogs (you get your own) takes one minute.
mostly, i'm interested in community site-building with multiple views.
the above example allows a flat forum style event log
as well as a calendar view of beginning to end of events.
