--> i'm fed up. i want to travel. i want excitement. life is short.

i'm becoming increasingly prepared to take my next student loan installment of 2000 quid and move to america for a year or so. that would involve dropping out of college. but seriously, that sounds so appealing right now. i'm only in my first year, and the course sucks. I mean i really don't learn much. I have no enthusiasm. The only thing that I go in for is a hot girl that I was seeing, and really really like, but now that has all gone wrong and we are just like best mates, which is amazing - she is amazing, but it will all end in tears when she runs off with another man and tells me in graphic detail about her one night stands etc....

so, how easy would it be to get to america, get a job, and stay for a year or so with 2000quid ($3864) ???

will anyone employ a lowly brit? a music related job would be so ace.

also, where to go? america is a big place. nyc? sounds like fun but will i get my face shot off? san fran? la? canada even?

any ideas? anyone got a job for me? anyone rent me a house? wanna start a band?

i need to be decided within a week, cos i'm supposed to be moving in with some college mates, and i can't leave them in the lurch and run off to america. but know i am very seriously considering this.

another problem, i have a fear of flying. now i will put up with this obviously, but anyone know of boat travel to america/candada? is it possible? expensive?

i need advice and ideas.

x

go to new zealand instead....or yeah, canada

yeah, new zealand would be rad, but i don't think i can even afford the flight..

well if you have to come to this filthy place, you should at least head out west and see those big mountains and stuff.

i like the us

well. 3gs or more can get you through alot in a place like El Paso Texas... Not that this is saying much, cost of living is low in arizona and in west virginia... You can also try to shack a place in fla and I can get you working at whole foods! but Im sure you wouldnt want that. lol!

pardon my ignorance but where is fla utofbu?

oh, hold on...florida? how is it there?

florida is warm and the people are cold
but I know a few good folks here.

Tbeals is around which reguardless of the fact that I havent seen him for awhile now, is the only real reason for me to stay down here

yes Tom that is a shoutout

come to portland!

its real easy to buy weed in florida

NYC is not dangerous at all. But very expensive. I recommend Portland, a place I have yet to go, but by everything my drummer tells me, the place is magic. And affordable too. Plus you will be used to that kind of weather!

boat travel is VERY expensive, and also quite time consuming. I hate flying too. It will feel like crap for a full day, but then it will be done and you will be one step closer to being over that fear!

Also I recommend Austin Texas. GREAT music scene, for what I've heard. And more affordable than NYC, but less affordable than Portland. Also many a friendly emer lives there, for example, Papergoose!

i'll be the voice of reason and say stay in school. no matter how little you're learning and how much it sucks, you're already in too deep. just jump through those hoops, then travel.

so is portland a big lively place? i do quite like to have fun? how much does it cost to rent a place?
