--> I've finished a 1.0 version of my Wii jamming software.

If you have a mac, bluetooth, and a wii controller, give it a download and play around:
link

You can load in samples and they will sync up and you can jam around and look silly! I find it to be quite fun. You can see a demo video of it in action here:

Let me know what you think, or if you'd like to see the code.

TEH EDIT :: i've made a much nicer version of this software, as well as a dedicated website: link

Recent blogs: first blog!

Awesome, gonna get a wii controller gith away!!!

awesome dude. custom loopers FTW! When are you going to get two wii controllers, so that you can appear to be directing air traffic? Also, it is interesting that you are carrying on the Handface tradition of using nintendo hardware for your music projects.

Dude that is so awesome! Excellent work! I think there are even more awesome possibilties that something like this opens up.

dope project + video populus! hope someone gets in touch to make a windows version asap as i'd love to get playing around with this myself

...now even more pissed off my wii still hasn't been delivered yet.

so awesome. i don't have a wii, but i might go buy a controller just for this.

wow, i wasn't expecting such a reaction! i'm glad you all like it. i'll ask nintendo if they see a spike in sales due to my max patch.
genius!

you mentioned the max object aka.wiimote. is that what translates the wii's bluetooth siganls into usable data?

well, "usable" might be a bit of a stretch, since I learned that accelerometer data is pretty horrible to work with. But yes, that object talks to the wiimote and gets the numbers out into max. I can't get into the object to tell you specifics, but you can download it for yourself if you're curious:

the help file is quite good, with fancy visualizations and such.

wtf.
populus, this is purely amazing.

thanks a lot for making and sharing this.

damnit. this looks like some serious fun

holy smoking shit.... fucking nice vid man. lol

i'm really glad you guys like it. I made it about 2/3 for fun and 1/3 for a school project...I made that video at 5 am on thursday, during an epic all nighter where i pretty much lost all sense of whether or not it was actually good. i'm now back to thinking it's rather cool after all!

looks awesome... i ran upstairs and got the wii remotes. having no luck so far, but it seems to be a bluetooth issue and i'm going to update my osx installation to 10.4.9, seems there are some bluetooth issues fixed. basically i add the device, then it doesn't show up in the device list. I managed to add it as a favorite but it always says "Not connected". will play some more and let you know. Mac Book Pro here, latest Wii revision I think also.

wow,

!!!

cc runs off to computer store to get bluetooth thing
