--> As some of you may know, I am not primarily a musician, but rather a painter/drawer/printmaker. This semester I've been exploring digital painting and I thought I'd post some recent work to show yall what I've been up to.
I've included five peices:
-Untitled (Crow and telephone poles)
-Cognac Blues
-A Chavez/Bush illustration I did as an exercize in characture and speed painting
-Two character sheets from a pitch for an animation called Dusty Knuckles
These were all done completely digitally in Photoshop.

I would love comments/critiques!

edit: these are obviously all low-res versions. I'm working on a website and I'll have hi-res ones up soon.

When I get a website up and runnging, I'll drop yall a link to hi res ish.

the mod dude is funny assed shit!

analog drawings would be warmer...

lol @ the mod. i love them all, and the fact that you can do different styles with such ease is amazing to me. well, people who can draw in general are amazing to me. most excellent sir.

are you using a cintiq for these? nice stuff--my criticism would be to watch the tightness of your lines. there are places where it looks like you used too thick of a stroke, while your style seems to lean toward more detail. something to be aware of, at least. the crow is far and away the best piece--very paint-like with great texturing and color. the guy falling looks a bit digital and amateurish, like you spent way less time on it--you could add a whole bunch of depth to it fairly quickly. your work reminds me of this guy.

would you rather be blind or deaf?

its either one or the other.

would you rather have no mouth or no asshole?

but what if they're same
lol @ jdg as usual.

mechp - i like all of these. nicely varied styles but all equally effective. nice work. especially like the untitled one (crow and telephone poles) but i think they're all great.

very nice. the crow/phone-lines art reminds me of the brilliant realtime art demo by kolor from dialogos 2001:

I like the crow, the character drawings, but not too keen on the bush chavez caricature, prob because the bush isn't as ape as he can be. I'd have liked the telephone poles to be slightly shifted to the right and more spaced out.

You should try corel's painter. The brushes there are pretty realistic, and there's more selection, including air brushes.

you have a ton of talent, man! Just follow your bliss. Fuck what everyone thinks, good and bad. It's all about your inner vision. Are there any painters in particular you find influential, by the way?

"I like the crow... I'd have liked the telephone poles to be slightly shifted to the right and more spaced out."
agreed :-)

man you had me fooled with these. i would have spotted the digital stuff in the falling man, but i wouldn't have blinked if you told me the others were 99% pencil and paint. nice. are these the first digital things you've done or are you just concentrating on that alone this semester?

would love to see more of your analog work also. so far, what do you find you enjoy doing more, digital or non-digital? i started the opposite way by doing graphics on computer and now trying to learn how to draw better w/ pencil and paper.

if you need any help putting up a website let me know.

I like the style of you lines and composition! I guess my only critique (and only since you asked for it) is that I would like to see more texture and grit in Cognac Blues, like you had in your untitled piece. In art classes, my trick was always to do things to paper and then scan it. Drop it in a mud puddle, eat greasy food on it, crumple it up, burn the edges, etc. You scan the paper and then use the photoshop texturizer- instant cheater texture. As a matter of fact, the results often looked a lot like the textures you have in your untitled.
But yeah- totally unqualified when it comes to art...
And hey tell me what software you used for this? I really like the look of the brushes and design, you've got great taste.
