--> Hey, finally got word that my paper based on my master's thesis is finally published. This is neat for a few reasons:

1) I'm first author
2) The paper is mostly my work
3) It took a long time and several submissions/revisions

Anyway, here is the link to the abstract: link

Evidently we have to pay them money for them to put the paper up as a free download, but if anyone is vaguely interested in the topic, let me know.

Anyway, sorry for the non-music related post, I just wanted to shout a little yay!

awesome. stoked for you man. can't wait to spend a few minutes realizing i'm science stupid! ;)

hey, cool! i'd say i'm proud, but it seems awkward for me to do that, being a teenager.

is it wrong to lol @ "McWeeney"?

hey man. that's great! congratulations. always satisfying having a first author paper. i knew you did something related to the life sciences but had no idea you were a BIOINFORMATICIST. that shit is hardcore. i'm working on my next paper right now - nothing special, but i'll be the first author. should be submitting in a couple months. my most significant accomplishment to date was published 5.5 years ago! link

if it is jdg....i dont wanna be right

Congrats Roshi! genetics day on em411 :}

My ex was a biology researcher, and I read into a lot of that stuff. I think that if I am ever to do a phd one day, it will be bioinformatics. Research in computer science is just meh...

Jdg: no, it isn't.

Although she is my boss, so don't pass that on.

And thanks, guys! It took a long while to get this one done. The less said about the publication process, the better.

Minisystem: I'm just a lowly M.S. I am going for my phd soon in computational biology I think.
Oh, and daswesen, there's a lot of really interesting stuff going on in bioinformatics/computational biology right now, so it would be a kickass to do a phd in it. I'm interested in software design and systems biology right now...so many interesting problems now that we've assembled the draft sequences of so many different species.

Congrats that's awesome!!

Congrats man!

that's amazing. congrats on that. i'm sure i wouldn't understand a single word.

cool

i wonder if i saw you up there ever. . . make me think of future insect bots . . .

whweeee, hooray for you!

awesome roshi!!
