Electronic Music 411 - Amiina tonight? - amiina, doug fir, iceland, sigur ros

Never heard of them before this post. $15. Hmm. For a Doug Fir show. What kind of following does this band have? The last time I went there, it was packed and smelled like a men's locker room after a football game.

Amiina is basically the string section for sigur ros. They've branched out from doing string quartet stuff to more found sound kind of things. They're supposed to be really good live.

yeah, it is kind of expensive but i'm gonna bite the bullet. they make great sounds and they're cute too! i'm not sure what the crowd will be like w/ the price and all...and i'm not sure if people know who they are. we'll see!

they're super rad! one of the violinists is married to one of the sigur ros guys...
they play lots of other weird stuff like little music boxes and the saw and things.
if you haven't seen it, you should watch 'screaming masterpiece', a documentary about icelandic music.
they're in there with the usual suspects...the performances are really great!
