Greetings & salutations, one & all.
I'm finally getting things sorted out to the point where I think I'm ready to mail out demos to some production music libraries. The question that's plaguing me is this: what should my track order be?
Luckily, you can weigh in an opinion if you so desire. By visiting my virb page, you can see that I've set up a 4-song album that is the 4 tracks, in all their monaural glory, that I'm considering for the demo. I've set them up here in the order I was thinking of using for the demo itself, so you can tell me if you think it flows, or if you think I should change it up a bit.
I was thinking of leading off with "Try It for a While" because the guitar gives it a little something extra, and then throwing in "Cinqo" because it breaks things up a bit without slowing it down too much. It's got a darker tone with the kalimba samples & all the borrowed chords, plus the percussion is a little more esoteric than the break-beat action of "Try It for a While" & "Snowsuit Up!" Then I was thinking of riding out with the mellow ambiance of "Lucky Punk."
These 4 tracks are also my 4 official em411 releases, so I guess you could also check them out that way, or if you'd prefer to download them to your personal system so you can play around with the order, here are some links that can help you in that regard:
Try It for a While
Cinqo
Snowsuit Up!
Lucky Punk

Also, I'm constantly expected to rattle off a list of influences & artists I can compare my music too, and I always come up drawing a blank. I don't really sound like artists I listen too, so this question keeps stumping me. But you can help me figure it out now by telling me who you think my music reminds you of.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be much appreciated by me to say the least.
thx - stv

i liked the selection and how it flowed. was not so keen on the drums in snowsuit. they seemed a little dry and for real drums not full enough. but that may be onl ypersonal reference

thanks for backing up my thoughts on the flow, yghartsyrt - i know what you mean about the drums - if i could drop the beats you can, this wouldn't be a problem

actually, in reference to Yghartsyrts thing about the drums being dry - i actually like them way more that way than i i imagine them being otherwise. what did you use for those drum sounds Steve? Loving them

i believe they started out with a kick drum from a sample pack yghartsyrt posted here a couple of months ago and then some free drum machine samples I found on the web one day. Then a liberal dose of LiveCut and almost no reverb whatsoever.
I was sort of going for an old-skool, quasi-propellerhead-ish sound, but it's a real love-hate maker. i'm going to send out this round of demos as is, but maybe i'll re-do them on a future round
