--> Ahoy, maties, and all that. Ok, I guess I'll do one of these. Why not, right?

Born in 1979 in Abbotsford, British Columbia (on the Canada/US border, near Vancouver). Moved to Petaluma, California (an hour North of San Francisco) for 4th grade, after my parents split up. Moved around in Sonoma County for a while before moving to Seattle's Capitol Hill 6 months ago. Currently in the process of moving into a new place with my girlfriend, Serene, and her dog Freckles.

Started out more interested in art than music, although i took piano lessons briefly, and played clarinet from 4th grade until the end of high school, when I started playing guitar. Wasn't really into music that much until freshman year of high school, when Operation Ivy, the Specials, and the local music scene (predominantly Ska at the time) caught my ears. Played in a couple of bands over the next little while, and started to get interested in electronic music. Wrote for a local music magazine for a while, writing CD reviews and interviewing indie rockers (Death Cab for Cutie, Dismemberment Plan).

Other than music, I studied small amounts of film theory, philosophy, photography, design and printmaking. Nothing too intensive, but just enough to get an AA degree at the community college, with no real end goal or major direction in mind for my studies. I might continue schooling at some point, but I don't have concrete plans. I've worked as a bakery clerk, video clerk, shoe salesman, photographer (for one day), and sign shop clerk. My current job title is "Imaging Tehnician," though I prefer "Scanner Jockey."

I've stuck mostly to the Pacific Coast, and have family from BC all the way down to SoCal, with a sister in Portland Oregon, and a half-brother and half-sister in BC still. Other than the west coast, I've visited Texas (for a week, ick), DC (for a week, pretty cool), and Japan (for a week, fucking amazing, going back soon). Top future destinations: Iceland, France, Berlin, New York, the American Southwest.

I drive a burgundy Toyota Corolla with a "Defoliate Bush" bumper sticker, and I don't take very good care of it. My previous car was an inherited 87 Ford Escort, which died on the way to work years ago. A week afterwards, I was borrowing my Mom's Honda Accord and a police car illegally ran a red light and totalled it. Me and my friend, the passenger, were unhurt, but would've been killed if we'd entered the intersection a half-second sooner.

Drugs other than alcohol never interested me. I hate the act of smoking anything and dislike the effects of marijuana (although it's marginally more fun when eaten). I prefer cocktails to beer, with gin & tonics or Cuba Libres (rum & coke with lime) being my "fallback" drinks. I play better chess when I drink tequila.

That's probably way more than enough, but I'm bored (at work). Thanks for listening!

good read maeng. i can tell you have the writing skills. your design skills rock also from what i've seen in the past.

i'm with you on the - interested in several types of art, sort of fell into em later. i'm not like these kids that were born with an sk-1 where there left arm should be.

Jesus your accident story is horrifying. What the hell was the cop doing? Were there any charges against him / her?

the cop was responding to a call, but didn't turn her lights or siren on, and blew through a red light. she was knocked unconcious in the crash, and her car rolled into a fence a block away (this was at about 2am). the crash knocked our car in a circle, so we were facing the freeway offramp we'd just driven down by the time we stopped (by hitting a lightpost). the car's bumper was probably 15-20 feet away.

i don't know what happened to the cop (whose name i still remember). we ended up settling on a new car for my mom, and medical expenses+damagesx3 for me and my friend, after being dicked over for months by the city's insurance adjuster. it was very shady and frustrating.

jeeeeze mang.
sorry to hear about that ordeal / glad youre okay through it all!

radness @ d-plan interview / local music mag. You and Bonz should drum up a chat, i believe hes starting a mag.

yeah, what a suprise, people blowing redlights in the Bay Area...thats a new one.. I have been hit twice since I have been here, and I was on a bike both times..idiots.

Hmm, I remember drinking quite a bit of beers at the Latin American Club the first time we met, and a lot of crappy domestic beer when we all met up at the Sub Lounge..I don't remember cocktails..but I was wasted regardless.

All that I know is that you make great music, and thats what counts..and having a dog named "Freckles"..

oh, i remember drinking at least one white russian that second time...and maybe a gin & tonic? but yeah, i remember plenty of beer both nights too. we didn't get out of the city until 3 or 4 am that second time, when the bunch of us met up....we were planning on staying at a hotel that night, and there were ZERO vacancies. we checked almost every hotel on the main roads from SOMA to Van Ness....nothing.

wooo air bio!

you interviewed dismemberment plan and deathcab? those are both interetsing cool bands.

wtf im such a dork we should meet up sometime.

nice rea indeed.
i prefer beer over cocktails.
though i enjoy them from time to time. they are most of the time too ladden with alcohol. means, i can't drink so many of them. and they are a quite expensive compared to beer

i njoy all sorts of drinking.

yeah, cc...let me know when you're going to be in town. i'm right in the heart of everything in seattle, so we can have some fun i'm sure.

i don't mind a good beer (drinking some negro modelo tonight), but given the choice? fancy mixed drinks anyday.

good editing
