I've pretty much almost totally made up my mind that I may well definitely probably be moving to Berlin very soon. I want to live somewhere with some buzz and a good arts scene and Bath is just too sleepy and conservative. But I need somewhere to live for a bit to get myself set up. Can anyone help? I speak ein bisschen Deutsch aber nur ein bisschen. I'm also quite poor so I need somewhere cheap. Anyone here live/lived in Berlin?

berlin is a little bit overcrowded with people wanting to get famous in arts. i never lived in berlin though. maybe it's just what you need. i guess it would have been good to go there 10 years ago. but it's a great city anyway.

i, too, have thought about moving to berlin. i went to budapest hungary and the girl i stayed with there says i would love love love it. more than budapest. and i quite fell in love with budapest.

Yeah, everyone wants to move to Berlin. America is so boring now isn't it? It's all work work work, unless you've got a drug dealer then it's work work drugs. For me it's work work schoo which is even worse. God I hate my life.

I didn't actually realise Berlin was so popular or so artsy. I'm not looking for a hollywood for artists, I just want to live in a big city and I can't afford London prices....and another country would be good for me too I think.

Berlin is a nice city, it has its artsy hipsty parts, but it is so huge that you can find whatever you like. It is really cheap, there is lots of green places (parks, etc...), and I kinda like the way people often tell you what's on their mind (berliner schnauze). Each time i go back to where I live in the south i get depressed :]

just because there are a lot of people trying to make it somewhere, doesn't necessarily lower your chances. It's all about finding the right environment. After all, NYC is still cranking after all these years. Berlin is pretty high up on my list of places to live in, at some point in my life.
