What synth do I want / need ?

So I'm selling my Ensoniq SQ80 synth

mostly because I didn't really play it much anymore. I found the sounds cheezy and too much of a pain to program.
So, my question to you, what should I replace it with? (either on the Songbird site for tradein link or in general).
Please include the following in your evaluation:
- I like knobs that I can tweak while playing
- I love diiirrrirty analog sounds
- I hate clean sparkly sounds
- I hate "pads"
- I hate synths that try to emulate real instruments
- I like easily tweakable presets
- The one thing I liked about the SQ80 was that the pitch bend would create these great analog glitchly distortions
- I have a yamaha cs-5 which I love, but don't want 2 of these
- I don't like anything that sounds "eighties" or "nineties"

or get like, 100 of these. get some dorky synth dude to patch each one up for you different and then you'll have a bunch of 'easily tweakable presets'

Octave Cat ticks all those boxes (except the presets obviously). Can get very dirty. Never sparkles. 2 osc plus a further 2 sub osc! Cheap because Octave have no street cred (although the new squarepusher has one on the cover). Very tweakable too. I'm afraid though if you dial in a slow attack, you've made a pad, so you might want to weld the attack closed.

Nice, this is exactly the kind of advice I was looking 4. The Jupiter and the Octave Cat are perfect (and prrr fect)... but not really any on ebay right now  But I'm a keep looking.
And yeah, what about that Nord ?

JP-6s are quite common and turn up quite frequently on the 'bay. even craigslist. hell, i just came home one day and found a second one hiding in my closet. they're EVERWHERE. why, i think there's one knocking at the door now. don't let him in without that euro upgrade.

Ah yes, thanks c-club, the europa upgade looks great. That is indeed what I need, a jupiter 6.
Thanks delete... I looked quickly for a price with no luck, but anything that is custom built is likely way out of my price range.

Get yourself a 70's monosynth. Something along the lines of a MiniKorg 700s. There are more like instruments than synths.. and they sure don't sound 80's or 90's. Well .. maybe early 80's New Wave/Punk.
Jupiter 6 will get you right back to what you don't like IMO. Stay away from polysynths for awhile. Come back to that later when your programming style changes .. I find it helped me.

That minikorg looks great. I have a monosynth though "www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/cs5.shtml" so I'm thinking a poly might be best. If the SQ80 had knobs and sliders it would likely have been perfect.
