Really, if you stop, and then you think about it, the entire internet is redundant.

Many times, the internet provides much of the same information over and over ad naseum, if you think about it.

the AKG headphones sound amazing and are excellent for studio use. AKG 66 for about... $50-60.
musiciansfriend.com has many great sales and take a look at your local music retailers as well.

You can use pretty much whatever you want if you're used to the sound. If you are meticulous, Sennheiser HD595 is in your range, but it's open, leaking sound both in and out. Sennheiser HD280 is a nice closed alternative. Yes, I am a Sennheiser fanboy, so ignore whatever I say if you like AKG or Grado (I used both for many years). I actually use el cheapo Sennheiser EH150 most of the time now while I'm jamming and for roughing out mixes. They don't cost much, isolate well, and give a little too much bass, which I find is good when you then play back your headphone mix through speakers... the bass sounds more or less correct most times.
