How hard would it be to reproduce something like ronin
in a program like reaktor. (in fact, I would use reaktor)
And if you could, then would it have the same exact results, musically?
Ok- I admit, at this moment the question is purely academic because it would take me ages to program something interesting.
But, I'm curious, how do micro parts affect the sound in a modular environment?
P.S.
I'm thinking about purchasing reaktor, but I would probably just use it to produce stuff thats already out there somewhere (like the audiodamage stuff).
Is it really true (reaktor users?) that when you've went and bought reaktor, you dont need any other synth, effect... ever again?

reaktor is so ineffeciant processor wise....
thats the problem i always had.. i make something cool.. use it as a pluggin, and it uses 60% cpu just for one effect.

i think it's a lot better now. i have friends using big ass ensembles w/loads of samples in live along side lot's of other plugs and CPU is at 15% on a current laptop.

ah, true - forgot about that
so reaktor is not really the end all be all
and its not certain that the NI oscillators, filters ... sound the same as the ones audiodamage 've programmed

well.. audiodamage has plainly stated they will not make a synth and will stick to FX/processing. so, no oscillators there.
i think reaktor can sound really dope. the AD stuff is probably way easier to configure for midi control etc. no headscratching there.
comparing reaktor to a few plug ins is kind of dumb though. reaktor is sooooooooo much more. you can do so much with it from granular stuff to weird sucking compressed backwards reverbs etc..

I'm comparing it because I wonder if Im gonna make good use of all that possibility
stuff like this sequencer 's gotta be available at the NI users site, right?
but when era is only $50...

there's over a 1000 ensembles for download in the reaktor user library.
the AD stuff is good and is priced right and they are a great company w/good support and a very reasonable copy protection system etc. not arguing against audio damage. just throwing out ideas. really depends on what you are into and what you want to deal with.

throw out ideas, please!
I guess Im confusing two chains (or trains?) of thought
on one hand, I wonder wether plugins can be 'emulated' with reaktor (or end up sounding differently anyway)
I guess good plugs have a character of their own, even at the "low-level"
on the other hand, I have to choose between a do-it-all (pricey) application, and a whole collection of (cheaper) plugs.

though reaktor is quite expensive and can suck a lot cpu (though modern puters have put a little enbd to it, as reaktor 5 is 2 years old now) it really has a huge library with hundreds and thousands of great fx-processors and synths and manglers and whatnot. i use it for nearly everything.
though on the other hand it still has some quircks and can be akward to use as a plugin.
but ad-stuff and reaktor are two different fruits. apples and oranges

and concerning your question if reaktor did fullfill my need for all audio stuff forever…
…
…
…
no.
there's always stuff with a different twist and such. of course you may reproduce it in reaktor, but compared to hours and weeks of work, maybe 80 bucks or something is a fair deal.
and instant gratification.

the bonus of rolling your own plugins is that you can make them do what you want them to do, you know them from the inside out.
really any equipment is good if you interact with it well

it sux on my old g5 aswell, but compared top the latest native synths like massive or the latest arturia one, it's biss. on the macbook prois quite efficient as a plugin. standalone is nearly par to the g5

synthedit.
its cheap, or free if you only need 2 in 2 out. it outputs vst. tons of third party modules coded in c++ to save cpu, tons of info and help online.
it's so much fun when something free works so well.
check this out (not mine btw, just a good example of what can be done): link
Here is one of mine: link

i've had lot's of issues w/synthedit plugs just "breaking" and sending masssive walls of noise and clipping thru whatever host they were in. i'm very suspect of it and pretty much ignore all plugs made w/synthedit. maybe i just have bad luck?
