so, i was talking to bruce @ ozone just now, hunting around for the re-release of dan abram's frame disc from 12k, and he said 'you know we are closing right?' ..
dang. i guess i'll just buy junk online now.. anthemm is cool but they can hardly afford to cater to my narrow taste. :/ ozone was the only spot i could really wander in and find something off the shelf, as opposed to ordering it and p/u. prolly due to eric's ordering i guess.
meh.

Ozone is a great store. My favorite in Portland. I usually find worthwhile stuff in their used bin. I like millenium a lot too, and everyday music is the place to go when the others have been exhausted (or if I'm at Powell's).

i've only been here a few years and that place is a staple for me. i noticed for the last few times i've been there that there was only ever one guy working there. i guess he was holding on best he could.
pour some 40 to the curb. i'll drink to ozone friday night at aoptheke as i play my saddest somberestestest songs.

your kidding me. That is the only record store in Portland that stocks CDs that I want to buy. Just kill me.

are they closing cuz there is not enuf business?
if yes, is there not enuf business for the type of music they sell
or, is there not enuf business for anyone selling music via retail?
speciality record stores open and close here what seems like every month.

seems like within a few years there will be no record stores in portland for local artists to sell their albums at.

there are some shops doing well. and who knows what the future will bring. certainly some things are predictable but there's always surprises too.

not being a Portlander, I only went in there once, but it totally drained my bank account in the most delightful way. never before or again would I go into a record store and feel so completely...understood.
