Whacka-chacka guitars, electric piano, congos and bucketload after bucketload of fake blood. Needless to say it kicks some serious ass.

Guess the plot is clearer if you speak japanese and/or have a subtitled version though.

I just watched the Calamari Wrestler. no need for subtitles. Rubber-suited Squid-man wrestles an octopus man and some sort of crustacean-man, who turns out to be the long-lost dad of squid-man and octopus-man, who happen to love the same woman, who doesn't ever wear any sort of rubber-monster suit.

edit: argh! linky no worky

the whole series is pretty dope. I think there is something like 6 movies, all of which is based on a manga.

I've read about half the manga. Very good story and plenty of body parts flying around.

I only saw Shogun Assassin, which apparently is a compilation from several of the original movies.. definitely want to see the rest now

I just read "...who doesn't even wear any sort of rubber-monster suit." hah what kind of a woman must she be?!

Didn't know Shogun Assassin was part of a movie series. Fil - have you seen Yojimbo yet? (!) ?

i watched all six movies a few months ago and bought the first manga comic. fucking great movies! made me want to go to ancient japan and learn the way of the samurai.

also, shogun assassin is a joke compared with the original movies. they basically cut out the whole storyline and edited together all the fight scenes.

that explains why the ending of Shogun Assassin was so disappointing.. will grab the six real movies. and yep, have seen Yojimbo on VHS ages ago, should probably get a hold of it again.

!!! I MUST SEE!!!!

Love the manga.

The manga is great! Another good series, film only, is Samurai I, II, and III: Musashi Miyamoto on Criterion DVD. Check it out!
