--> Take a look at my new studio! Hahaha...

So yesterday I went to the Brooklyn studio ready to tell the landlord that I would be moving out at the end of June. He was late. As I waited I could hear them drilling stuff into the other side of my wall... you see they are making a restaurant on my floor. I always knew this would happen at some point (the restuarant construction) but the landlord assured me that it would barely be heard, and would easily be shut out of the isolation room.

No way in hell it wouldn't make it in there, if even low speech leaks through. No way in hell I'm able to concentrate with machine noises reverberating all around me, because there is an enormous crack under the door to the studio where I hear the reverberation of said machine noise through the hallway...

Anyway, I have a big recording opportunity right now so had to move some equipment to this place to do recordings. It's stressful though, because it's a real strain on the living environment.

ugh... ugh... UGH!!!!

I guess I just wanted to vent and show this hopefully somewhat amusing photograph of my new studio... quite a chance from Woodstock!

[edit: I have added a picture of myself to indicate how low and oddly constructed the ceiling is here.]

it's quiet here in maine (except every once in a while, if i close my eyes and listen carefully, i can hear nyc off in the distance) LOL nice studio... it's better than mine ;) that room looks like it's going to implode in on itself. nice!

upheaval and stress can make for strong creative energy too... ideally. Hope it works out for you.

too bad i didn't know u were in woodstock when i was in poughkeepsie, i would have come up and harrassed u

the humility of having to live there may be inspiring, or may kill it...hows it going?

how can U sleep on that crooked bed?

it's going ok... again, I haven't been able to be creative in a loose way. I recently got offered the opportunity to do a spec couple of scores for a French film and it was like pulling teeth, probably because the studio was so inviting (sarcasm) and because I just don't feel grounded in my life right now. But I believe that once I do find a new home it's all going to sort of explode out of me.

Hahah, the room does look like it's going to implode. Not pictured in the shot is that about 6.5 feet above there is a false ceiling/floor made out of doors and old boards. You see the room has reallly high cielings and there used to be a whole huge family living in here! It's quite picturesque!

You know, everamzah, I wish I'd known you were in Poughkeepsie. It would have been fun hanging out, maybe jamming a bit. How expensive is Maine, btw?

how can you sleep on a bed that makes percussion noise all night?

yeah, these are the instruments that make me feel somewhat grounded. Sort of like hard, sharp, oddly-shaped security blankets... I MISS MY OLD STUDIOOOOOOOO
nice wallpaper

Aphex Twin Bed

maybe if I had shot it with more photos it would be more aphex twin... pieced together by many shots... and thanks, dach, yeah, I rather like that wallpaper myself. Actually, this apartment is really comfy. I love it.

mmmmmmmm maine is pretty super cheap. i guess in portland it's a touch more, but i've never stayed there so i dunno. here in central maine the average is prolly around $500 for a two bedroom. i used to have a really big two bedroom apartment for $325 a month. yes, that's 3, 2, 5 LOL good town too, norway maine. well, if you like being in the middle ofo nowhere anyway

Put the Rack on your bed, then it'll be Aphex Twin Bed (windowlicker era)

I met a girl from Woodstock on a bus to Boston leaving Manhattan back in November. Didn't catch her name, though. She had pink hair.

interesting story.
