boooooo. i both love and hate technology.....

i both love and hate the drawing.

have u tried linux? lol

yea.. maybe i should try linux.

i ordered one of those firewire express card junts, and it works even less than the regular firewire thingy. i don't think that it's irq's cause everything is on a different one.

Dude

Go into the device manager and make sure all your shit has the right drivers. You will see little warning signs next to the devices with incorrect drivers. I was getting occasional blue screens cause I had the wrong display driver when I went to XP. Stuff like that.

If you already did this then I dunno. Sorry. Good luck.

thanks squeal, but i already did this.

i don't understand.

I'm preparing myself for a tech support marathon on monday.

my macbook worked great right out of the box...
(sorry to sound like a fucking commercial, but it's true)

yea.. it's a dell.

with the built in firewire, i was able to get audio from my presonus firebox, but there were frequent ddropouts... even with every possible device that might cause conflicts disabled.

so i bought an express card firewire hub. and i installed it.. seemed like it would work fine.. i installed the firebox with it, but the comp crashes whenever i actually try to use it with a program.

There are some reports on SIG fw cards having some conflicts and some problems with the dell expresscard.

But it could just be an issue with the presonus drivers. Though anecdotally i've heard they're a lot better than m-audio's. In any case, my saffire le seems to work well with the onboard firewire, but i'm still a little underwhelmed by the performance of the machine + saffire le. I think i expected a lot more processing power as compared to my non dual core computer.

hey--I use Spare Parts Warehouse out of OH--they are pretty rad. They'll look at your puter within 3 days and get you an estimate, unlike Geeky Squad who are pretty incompetant (I've outgeeked the geek squad the two times I've used them).
