After he killed the monkey on your back, he quickly set himself to creating warped dark post acid techno insanity to replace that dead monkey for at least long enough to keep your bartender relationship golden and your feet/hips shuffling.

Azmotronik
link
A subtle master of electro IDM breaks who will suck you in to his realm of analog tone mastery as it cross sections with deep electro breaks leaving you wondering where your genre allegiance lies.

Ignatius
link
A cross-pollination of dub electro techno IDM squashed beats of outer planetary illusions coupled with soma-induced funk meltdowns of a distorted reality. Yeah... it's supposed to sound like that.

Opening set from resident DJ, Derek Fisher. link

LAPTOP LOUNGE IS BACK!
Portland's Geekiest Night Returns With an Upgrade

Laptop Lounge, the legendary night that introduced Portland to countless local acts, is back! Last Thursdays, starting in May, the lounge will showcase bleeding edge electronic musicians doing thing their thing live. Supporting residents include local talents Let's Go Outside, Seņor Frio, Derek Fisher, and The Perfect Cyn.

Started in 2004, the Tuesday weekly at southeast's Night Light Lounge carried out an agenda to activate Portland's experimental electronic music scene. Bedroom DJs and producers, as well as local established artists, came out to perform live to standing room only crowds using a wide array of gadgets, instruments, turntables, and, of course, laptops. The Laptop Lounge regularly conducted timed remix projects, pairing strangers up to work together on new music. These competitions, along with artist submitted pieces, were compiled into DIY albums made available for cheap or free.

Laptop Lounge v2.0.0 picks up where the first left off, but with a few big changes. It is now monthly, allowing more time and effort to go into each show, making it a bit more of an event. The venue has switched to Pi-REM, giving these artists access to an infinitely better, EAW audiophile-quality, sound system. Pi-REM's enormous selection of quality beers and wines, combined with the comfort of its India-noir den adds emphasis to the event's "Lounge" title. In version 2, out-of-town acts will be sought frequently to play alongside Portland's local heroes and little-knowns. The tradition of remix projects and compilations will continue.

Laptop Lounge kicks off on Thursday, May 31 with artists from Portland's latest and greatest gift to the world of electronic music, Buried in Time. [SiK] , Azmotronik, Ignatius will perform live. Resident Derek Fisher will open with a leftfield DJ set. For more information and future lineups, visit our Virb page! link
