--> i thought it might be interesting to post a track that has nothing to do with the typical stuff we post and write about here, but is what i do when i'm not making electronic music (which these days is few and far between, it seems...).

see, i play drums as my main axe (although i played keys on this and wrote the lyrics as well as recorded and mixed it). and i like playing them in rawk bands. with odd times. 'cause it's fun.

unfortunately, the other dewd i've written with since high school lives on the other side of the country now, so our output is severely restricted these days (means i should have more time to write teh em, no?). attempting to rectify this...

so, should anyone care to listen, this is what i like to do, too:

chalk - boy paranoia

i never heard this song.

also, anyone who can work in a banjo into a progrock song = nutter

and ALSO ALSO.
BEST PART is the fade out when u do the triplet bassdrum groov.

reminds me of STEWY copland

easy, cookie monster...

btw, it's not a banjo. 'tis a strumstick.

i love stu copeland, big ego and all.

LOL, dood, its banjo, its ok. you're still cool

(strum sticks are for people who haven't figured out that they're a funny looking appalachian dulcimer)

STFU Melungeon!

needs more 12 tone

i had enough twelve-tone in college to last a lifetime.

NOT ENOUGH

ah don't hear no banjo!

ps
you know that ekstrak's award winning band are called chalk?

um,.... Prog Rock? banjo? Is jdg discussing some other song, or is he eating the special cookies?

reminds me of proto-Grunge, the stuff with this southwest flavor, like meat puppets or Dharma Bums or even early REM, only more modern.
I dont see why you couldn't put this on the frontpage... but I understand why you didn't. It seems noone is listening anymore anyway.
Nice.

More 12-string, less 12-tone.

mmmm...cookies!

we've gotten the REM comparison before, but not the DBs or MPs - it's always interesting what people hear in others' music. my friend's vocals have been compared to simon le bon (duran duran), ian anderson (jethro tull) and john wetton (asia, king crimson). weird.

if the electronic elements were a little stronger and more present, i'd think about it, but i think to many here it's just a big, dumb rock song, so....

More 12-string, less 12-tone.

indeed!
