I've been itching to find some doom rock for awhile now. I love sunn 0)) and earth, and I want to find more of that super low droney distorted guitar rock band crap (with or without vox). Unfortunately googling "doom rock" doesn't hit you with as much as when you look up "shoegaze". So for all you doom rockers out there, hit me with some bands!

one band that I have an album by that I would call doom rock is "salaryman" but i suppose its more psychedelic grunge rock but for all i know, it could be the same thing.

Doom Metal equation:
take regular metal, detune the lead guitar(s) -2 octaves. Remove most of the vocals. Same whole song and play it back at -2 octaves. Run that through more fuzz distortion, then reverb. You've got new Doom hit.

Actually, I got smacked down a little by a metalhead the other day. He said that true Doom is stuff like Candlemass and Warning.
Anyway, fuck subgenres. I'm just calling it drone metal for right now.
Oh fuck, I forgot about Birchville Cat Motel - that stuff can melt faces, it's so slow and deep.
I listen to a lot of stoner rock too. I think there's a lot of crossover - bands like 5ive, Electric Wizard, etc.

Anyway, I'm a huge Boris fan - all of their albums are so diverse and different. Amazing musicians - they've worked with all sorts of people, including Sunn O))), Keiji Haino, Merzbow...pretty awesome.

doom metal is definatley candlemass, st vitus, even some black sabbath. the super slow super slow distorted stuff is drone metal. doom metal is not as slow or low.
