--> Why this title for my blog?

I'm an italian house producer (recently converted to the minimal scene), and I'm needing help, suggestions for the right direction to take in this kind of music. If you know new tendences, styles, sounds, interesting projects and so on, reply to this s.o.s. ;) Thank you guys (and girls!).

Instead of relying on others to tell you what your music should sound like, I think you should just be yourself and not worry about current trends or styles. If you are trying to sound like someone specific what would seperate you from them?

Sorry if this post isn't helpful but maybe you have a more specific question?

Just make music that sounds good to yourself.

If you are trying to sound like someone specific what would seperate you from them?

imo: the accidentaly discoveries and sidetracks you discover, and hopefully persue, while you're trying to imitate a sound/style.

i believe very strongly in the value of setting out to copy things.. but the most interesting things will happen when you're open to the other avenues you'll find out along the way (and not abandon every track you make that doesnt sound just like artist x ;) ).

but it does sound, kruppy, like you're setting out to make 'genre x' music which is a bit upside-down approach in my view. Perhaps it would be better to ignore the genre names and focus on what sounds good to you like logicfray suggests (ie. are there particular artists who's sound you especially like the music of? try to distill the essence of what it is about their sound that attracts you, try to recreate that)

Thank you for help guys. I feel your reply so idealist! I'll forward your suggestions to my editor... I'm not sarcastic, but when you work in the world of professional productions you must fight against the eternal dichotomy: art vs businnes!!! It's so disheartening, I know, but is truth!! For example: I produce soulful house (art), but in Italy this kind of music is out (for the moment, at least!), so my editor wants only tons of minimal techno (businnes). What you do in this difficoult situation?

Now I produce both these kind of music...

Anyway, for my "minimal inspirations" I have downloaded interesting tracks from some sites:

PS: My music sounds ever like I want, but is through the comparison with others artists that we can obtain the best results!
