Ok, for those who don't already know (by reading looptalk) there has been discussions about the team over at ImageLine embedding Synthmaker into FL Studio in some future release (sometime in 2008). It's not officially announced, yet.
It's been stated that it will be fully compatable with Synthmaker and fully functional with the exception of exporting your creations as VSTs. Sounds cool, and could be lots of fun.
Now, why? Why would ImageLine continue to add "cruft" to future releases while (for the most part) ignoring existing users requests for improved support for multiple MIDI devices, slip editing (OK, fine they *are* working on this one), etc.
I fully understand wanting to capture more customers, but please don't ignore the existing ones in the process.
I have been using FL for many years, and doubt that I would be happy with any other software package, but this really worries me.
Discuss.

Welcome to the world of every other DAW. Steinberg, Emagic and Ableton have done this to users - adding more fluff rather than sorting out major bugs or long time requested features.

Talk to me more about this "limited support for multiple MIDI devices issue"...I'm in the process of sorting out a couple major hassles with FL7 in terms of this issue...

deltasleep: well, here is the main one:
If you have multiple input devices (drum pad, and keyboard for example) they always route midi note data to the currently selected channel and without a bunch of workarounds (layers, or using a host to host FL Studio within) you can't do much about it.

yeah, I knew about that issue, but the way I use input devices is one at a time, so it's not yet an issue for me.
I AM having a lot of trouble getting more than one input device to work, though.

deltasleep: Strange, that's the easy part. What devices? Have you already enabled them as generic controllers in FL Studio? What type of connections are they using (USB/MIDI/MIDI through Merge box)?
