--> word to the wise for anyone who had been a member of eMusic. after you cancel you'll get offers to rejoin. thats not a big deal, but do NOT click on anything in the email offer.

my offer read: rejoin eMusic now and get 50 free downloads: see below for details. when i clicked on the button to get more details, my account was instantly reactivated and my credit card which was on file was billed. no verification/confirmation, no chance to read the fine print... activated straight from the email in one click.

i really enjoyed their selection when i was a member, but this just puts a bad taste in my mouth. what's worse is that i only have 30 days to download my free mp3's because after that they expire. i've already been billed and i'd rather not deal with the hassle of trying to get the credit back... so i guess the geurilla tactics worked.

i probably would have taken them up on the offer after i read the details, but this pisses me off in principle.

anyways, i need LOTS of recommendations from their catalog because i have to download 80 songs in 30 days. whatcha got?

That's pretty damn cheeky.

Recommendations?

you should go for getting the credit back - just so that they know using tactics like that is shitty and more hassle than its worth - you think of how many others [who arte less savvy than you] will get fucked by them.

Start a never ending campaign of hate against them now!

If not, I recommend The Worzels, The Chieftains and some Lieutenant Pidgeon

The 4 vol. set "An Anthology of Noise and Electronic Music"" just popped on on emusic, it's pretty good and eats up a lot of dls. link

Since Ochre did it, I'll pimp mine, too:

If you're at all in to experimental/avantgarde stuff in bitesize form, one of the best download gobblers I've come across so far is this:

60 1 minute songs.

"Since Ochre did it"

Or did he? Cheeky bugger!

same thing happened to me. pissed me off too.

I'm surprised that kind of thing is legal.

that is mental. surely that cannot be legal... I like emusic a lot but christ on a bike...

these any good to you??

Acoustic Ladyland - Skinny Grin : link

Balkan Beat Box - Balkan Beat Box : link

Rose Kemp - A Handful of Hurricanes - link

The Dillinger Escape Plan with Mike Patton - Irony Is A Dead Scene - link

that will do for now
get the newer arcade fire album for me.
in fact, get them all for me if you could.

yes@ keep 'em coming!

... and don't call me shirley

i think 4 people have downloaded my album from emusic. if you aren't one of them, you could be the fifth! link

try naw on for for size if you have not yet... i hear his music is experimentally dubalisious..
link

also as an artist its one of the few pay DL sites that acctually do pay on time unlike itunes or beatport who manages to screw me out of cash for my music...

as far as shit to download, can't go wrong with jimi hendrix and the beatles.

from your description, it sounds like what they did is illegal. you may be able to get some punitive damages. of course it's surely not worth the effort.

TOTALLY. Same thing here. Thought I'd click through to see what the real offer was, and no confirm page, automatically charged for an upgraded service.

I also share your opinion that emusic is great, but this experience totally made me think twice.

I'm one of those 4 minisystem! 3 more?

Here's a picture of one of the offending emusic emails.

That's real shady, and it makes me worry about emusic's future. I love their selection/quality/policies though. Really makes iTunes look second-rate.
