I just got a Casio MT-600 and I am in LOVE with the thing. It has the same sort of sound as the lower range in the MT series, but it has an ANALOG FILTER! That means instant classic when combined with an inability to stay in tune, and a really low sample rate, noisy output.
Witness the awesome:

Everything in that mp3 but the drums is completely unmodified MT-600! To get some of the chorus effects I multitracked the same parts with the fine tune knob cranked.
It's not too hot with bass- it doesn't go too low.
I plan to do a mod I found on the interweb that boost the cutoff and resonance limits and brings a control for each out on the front panel.
$2 from a trailer park yardsale.

Slap a little chorus and sample reduction on the thing, and it is instant belchiness. You should hear that "Synth Bass" preset from the beginning if it's pitched down. best fart-bass of ALL TIME.

yeah scott, there are actually a lot of casios that have the same filter, and it adds so much to the keyboard. Some of them even had controls for the filter. The HT6000 is multitimbral, and has the controls, if i remember right.

YESSS! i like cheap old shitty(i mean that in the nicest way) synths!
ive been after a ht/hz series one for a while since straight posed about the ht6000 on here. the ones ive watched on ebay have gone for like £40! stupid
i got a yamaha pss470 from ebay for a tenner a while ago ... that thing rocks!!! you cab get suck deep rich but noisy tones from it .... when i first ran it through my monitors i couldnt believe the sounds that it was making!! it can go deep too. really thick bass. nice organ sounds and some early autechre-ish fm synth tones. nice pliky plonky stuff too.
buuuuut no patch storage or midi.
the pss480 on the other hand has both! ima pick up one up soon i think. maybe bend/mod the 470 - i bet that can make some crazy noises.
