this group is called the Dirty Projectors, though all the little clips I find don't seem to sound as good as this. they're doing a black flag cover album that should come out in sept. 11

Dirty Projectors are a great great band.

In a weird coincidence, I started making a breakcore cover version of Black Flag's Damaged album a while ago.

hocket!

Dirty Projectors=genius

He's the best thing going right now--has been for about three years now.

fuck that shit .. awful

the girtls doing backing are truely goregous. the dude, not so much for me

yeah the girls are great, the guy is lame

I saw these guys at a Hella (of ipecac records) show in salt lake. They were good, and the yelling thing was used very sparingly. Maybe just that song, even. Their drummer is great, too. Unorthodox, inventive.
That guy has a funny, interesting style of guitar. but he should keep his mouth closed. just one of a bajillion losers making their living on a tim buckley impersonation.

voice... ouch

yeah, they're great live, go see them... saw them open for grizzly bear, and they were by far the better band in my opinion.

His last record ( Slaves Graves and Ballads) was brilliantly orchestrated. I usually don't like when singer/songwriter types bring out the strings and woodwinds, but he's got a great sense of drama.

His label has some mp3s up.

i hate this kind of stuff. "Like lets take an album that has nothing to do with us because it's funny" I hate irony in music.

It's definitely not a joke--kind of a labor of love.

I don't think Dirty Projectors are capable of irony.

I really sense a lot of "irony" in their music. But as someone who is often mislabeled or misunderstood as ironic(I cover a lot of country songs and people don't seem to understand it quite the way I do), I can forgive that sometimes.
