So I'm trying to get a firewire interface for my home studio (I've been jerryrigging shit for TOO LONG!) and I was wondering if anyone had any experience they'd like to share. I need at least 8 channels, and i have not much cash. The two mixers that look the most promising are:
M-Audio NRV 10: link
and...
Alesis Multimix 12: link
they both look great, but m-audio's mixer is $400 more. I'm usually a believer in the whole get-what-you-pay-for thing, but I can't really tell which would be the better deal. Has anyone used either of these? Any other good interfaces i'm overlooking?
Any help would be great.

but it looks like you're going for knobs and faders, and not portability, eh?
