--> i was eating lunch with my family yesterday and my brother says to me:

"hey, you know they got some casio keyboards at the DAV (a local veteran's thriftstore) for sale behind the counter. one's like 20 bucks and the other is like 50 bucks."

always one to choose the bargain first, i ask him what's the twenty dollar one

"it's a small casio."

ooh, a small casio, and they usually keep the ones in good condition in the back, behind the counter - and instantly i start salivating over the possibility that it just might be ... the sK1.

so i ask him what does it look like? is it rounded off one edge, or is it pretty rectangular shaped?

"no, it's rectangular shaped"

my chances are getting better ...

so, after lunch, i tell him, we'll go and check it out. my thumbs are beating the steering wheel the whole way there. i am really excited.

and once inside, i peer behind the counter, and there sitting on top of the larger 50 dollar keyboard (which i forgot to check out, because i was so ecstatic) was a keyboard that looked pretty damn close to an SK1, but my vision is pretty bad - and i can't see the little mic section on the corner.

i ask the old lady behind the counter to have a lookey-loo.

and my eyes instantly lit up.

i've been playing with it ever since. sampling whatever and playing with it. i honestly have no idea what i'll do with it. does anybody have the link to that website that sells midi circuits for it?

first thing i ever did to my sk-1 is fart into it. next up is make a burp song.

link --> is a good place to start for all things bendable.

link --> midi mod

i bet 95% of all sk1s have recorded farts

I got my SK-1 free as a gift when I was 16.
I was a bar back and was telling the bartender how i liked to record casios into my 4-track.
Then next day he handed me an SK-1. with the manual and everything. He said he had it since he was a kid and never really played it.
I'm glad he kept it that long!

Still $20 from the DVA seems a little pricy. I remember when similar keyboards were much cheaper. A friend of mine got the yamaha version of the sk-1 from a thrift store for $3 in 1998.

i was at the dump yesterday throwing away rolls of old carpet.. and i saw an SK-1 at the bottom of the heep

In soviet union Sk-1 dumps on you!

thanks GRapeApe for the linkage.

and 20 bucks is a good price, considering it was well taken care of, still has the battery cover and all the switches, even still has the cloth feet.

sk-5 fartz:

had the thing since i was about 5... soon i will add midi and bend it.

i bet 95% of the farts on all sk1s are astroids
i love my SK collection!

lol @ monkvolcano
why doesn't it ever get old??

i got a sk1 from my dad. he got it with a case, at a car boot sale for 50p thats about 35 cents? cool dad

that means that you think that 90.25% of sk1s have my recorded farts on them

which is better, the vss-30 or sk1? or sk5, i'm torn between the sk5 and the vss-30, but i'll probably just get kontakt lol

make us a song
