"So you’ve pulled an all-nighter polishing your set to perfection, and you’re excited to plug in your laptop and play your latest tracks for the 300 excited, sweaty club patrons crowded around the DJ booth. Suddenly, you realize you’ve got a serious problem: this booth has some unconventional audio inputs and you don’t have the right adapters. Your heart leaps into your throat as you realize it’s 1:00 AM and there’s no way you’re going to find a Radio Shack open at this hour. You’ll need to convince one of the other DJs to take over your slot and beg the promoter to re-book you another night when you’re prepared.
Instead, carry the Electronic Musician’s Emergency Adapters, a “First Aid Kit” that will save the day when you’re faced with a gear-connection emergency. Featuring a set of nineteen audio adapters chosen specifically for the needs of electronic musicians and DJs, it’s packaged in a distinctive red bag and features a clip-on LED light to help you navigate around the rear of equipment in a dark club."

Yeah, those XLRs can really be a pain.
Another tip that might help even if you don't want to grab the adapter kit yet and you've got a gig scheduled: Show up as early as the first band is scheduled to be sound-checked so you're guaranteed of getting a chance to talk to the sound engineer (well, assuming they have a sound engineer setting up). These guys by their nature carry a huge assortment of audio adapters and will probably hook you up for your set.

that's great to have ... love the bag. I'm going to have my band all pitch in. I'm pretty confident we don't need it around here in typical rock clubs ... .but on the road .. you never know ... like needing that power cable convertor... who ever has that on them?
btw - Do people still play their laptops using just the 1/8 inch out? I find that insanity,...

ha I don't care it wasn't for my set ;-) I was nominated to record someone's set to md, but it turned out it was all being (cheekily, I might say) recorded to the sound engineer's assistant's hd anyway, so we can get the wavs. Far more information than you needed haha

I played this show in denver(6 hour drive) and the dudes did not have 1/4" inputs, only xlr on the snake. Imagine that. We waited around for like an hour while someone scrounged another mixer with xlr outputs. Crazy.
At first glance, that kit doesn't look like it would've helped.

squeal is right this kit wouldn't have help.. in fact in could be very dangerous to hook up directly into xlr if you are just using a normal audio signal because, if the sound isn't watching what he is doing he could lift the gain with phantom power on and destroy your sound card. Not to take anything away from the kit but, investment in two DIs would be a good idea for people playing shows.
