--> So ever since I've been playing out live (seven years--mg I am old) I've been struggling to find a decent case / bag setup that I could take on the el or walk many blocks with and not die from overexertion. A few weeks ago, after about a month of searching online, I ordered this: link (in silver) and this: link (also in silver), as the laptop bag (I've got a laptop with a huge screen and most laptop bags won't hold it).

Wow. I finally got to try it out at the demo swap last Tuesday. The rolling bag part is great, and the laptop bag attached to it so you can carry everything on wheels. The rolling bag has gigantic pockets on each side that fit headphones and adapter kits. And since the laptop bag has a padded shoulder I can cram a lot of stuff in there and I don't feel like a clavicle fracture is imminent.

I am so pleased right now.

for djing i always use my trusty shure bag (http://www.music123.com/Shure-MRB-Heavy-Duty-Record-Bag-540750-i1151275.Music123), but it's not exactly suited for laptops or anything, mine just happens to fit perfectly behind some records. nice big front pockets for power supplies, headphones, ipod accessories and cables, though. lately for laptop transportation i've been drooling over this: link the incase ripstop backpack. i can't wait to get one. i know, no wheels, but i'm more of a backpack guy anyway.

I've got a Super mario power-play bag I bought at a flee market for $ 1.

It's über!

intrsting bags..

I have a crumpler 'team player' which is doing its job very well so far. It has an inner laptop 'envelope' that's sort of suspended by velcro clips in the middle of the back surface of the bag which is heavily padded. as well as the laptop it has other clever pockets on the inside for cables, mouse etc. and a big central compartment for breakout soundcard and all kinds of other junk. link

i have a deuter gigaII. i can cram an dsi evolver desktop, tapco mix120, and a few other things in it, put it on my back and bike to a show.

@ madeofoak: right on. I kinda dig those Gravis bags--the "trinity" in particular, myself

@ oerfil: wow.

@ cbit: I see you're a backpack-er, too, eh?

@ seanh: ... as are you! I'm kinda outnumbered here in the messenger / sling category, I think!

old leather suitcase + manky blanket combo.

lol I had to look up "manky" :-)

what did you come up with?! just out of interest...

minging
pinging
hanging

how are the wheels on that trolley bag? i used a luggage bag with tiny wheels that were too close to one another so that the whole thing started 'walking' if you tried to pull it over any bumpy terrain. any unwanted walking behaviour with the snazzy bag?

link

the wheels are great--I have had no issues with it tipping to taking a walk

seems manky is analagous to skanky

link said: "manky - inferior and worthless"

eh?!!

skanky, yes.
also, grimy, scrubbery, trampy, minging, foul, gross.

i need new bags sooooooooooooo bad. liz you would laugh i am using the same bags i've always used!!!

- one is a green beat up rolling carry-on suitcase
- got a plastic hinged tub for toys, objects and other sample items that can't be crushed in a bag
- then about four old, overused, ripped, faded and probably toxic book and messenger bags that hold cables and other shit depending on the gig
- three record gig bags in dire need of replacement
- one big honkin yellow heavily stickered vinyl flight case - you know the kind

but my list of studio wants is waaaaay larger than my need to buy a new bag, so my bags tend to never get replaced. not with new ones anyway.
