So the other night was the last in the series of my band's clubnight. We played live every time and DJed too, with guest DJs, bands and laptop sets. The first three we did grew really well, with the third one being so busy that you literally couldn't move. Then the owner of the venue decided to close so they could apply for planning permission to expand and reopen. As our night was the only busy one, they let us continue, opening the venue once a month just for us. This was nice, and kind of flattering, but also a bit shit: our night had relied somewhat on passing trade and, with the shutters being down all month, we didn't get any (everyone must have thought it had shut for good). Add to this a total of four acts pulling out of the last three (despite bng booked six months in advance) and we were getting a bit down.
Anyway, Saturday, by some fluke, the night was rammed again. Maybe it was the people smoking outside that drew people in, knowing it was open. Maybe it was the guerrilla postering campaign an hour before opening. Maybe it was our amazing mates who turned up to see the night off with a bang (one guy travelled for nearly four hours to come down!) Anyway, it was busy and loud and everyone was dancing an drinking and mashed and it was top.
So, back to the title of this blog, "My First Houseparty." Afterwards about 20 people came back to my flat and it was fucking mint. People squashed on the balcony to smoke, my dog running round like a nutter, in one room the geeks playing wario on the wii, in another people raving to oldskool. crate upon crate of cider dissapeared.
Memorable moments included:
*that girl showing us a video of her dad on YouTube playing bass for the 4 tops or the platters or someone + the Kersal Massive
*2 people from work falling asleep in me and lou's bed.
*kane having a wee off the 9th floor balcony (i was a bit annoyed at the time...)
*everyone screaming "SCRUB IT!" at the wii with someone shaving a beard.
*putting pegs on casualties faces
*frantic floor mopping without reason.
People left about 5. Some headed to chorlton to buy more drugs and carry on all day. Some went to others houses. Some phoned in sick into work. Some slept on the settee.
The clean up operation went pretty smoothly, and we spent sunday watching eerie indiana, family guy and louis thoroux doccoes on tv-links.co.uk fry up for lunch and a massive chinese for tea. I'm still feeling ok now, but not looking forward to the midweek serotonin drop.
Roll on 21st October for our In The City Special, and the next series of six nights starting in January!

that sounds like a mint night!! gutted i missed it. not that gutted though cos im raving in berlin. over here the night starts at 5am. didnt get home the other night till 5pm...still rough.
remind us about the 11th aug shindig and ill do my best to be there....manchester needs more good parties.

Yeah, my birthday (11th/12th) will be probably in town somewhere. I'll let you know on here nearer the time. Got some chiefs from London coming up which should be good.
It wasn't the 4 tops it was them who sang "**something** sweet dreamer, It's just one of those things you put down to experience" ha ha!
