--> I hope you'll pardon me for being a little narcissistic, whiny and pointless.

As a kid, I had alot of ear infections. Remember that it sucked, but the specifics are pretty vague.

Got another one going now. When I first called my doctor I got the order to eat ibuprofen (for it's anti-imflammatory properties) for a couple of days and take it easy. Well, that didn't work, so now I'm on antibiotics instead.

I normally have a quite high threshold for pain, but this is quite extraordinary! I literally woke up gasping for air last night. Although it sucks it's quite interesting in a weird way. Can't really explain it, perhaps I've been reading too many sufferer-books (a million little pieces, shantaram, contortionists handbook, some of Palahniuks stuff etc etc)? Or perhaps it's just a method of coping, experiencing it from a third person perspective.

Anyway, the rise of the sufferer book, either autobiographical or written in an autobiographical style, is an interesting topic though. Tales of addiction, violence and despair seem to fly off the shelves. I sure as hell can't explain my own fascination for them. Some offer a little bit of hope perhaps. That some people can go through an incredible amount of complete and absolute horror and still be able to write about it, through sheer luck, madness or whatever you may call it. Or perhaps it's just a morbid variant of the morality tale, but set in the present and acted out by real people.

Anyway take care, and if your ears start hurting as hell insist on seeing a doctor right away, don't wait for shit to get even worse.

Later!

man...earache sucks, i feel for you. hope the antibiotics do the trick. you did the right thing going to the doc immediately, as if earache is left untreated it may cause ear damage, something none of us want i'm sure...

i was bothered with earache the other week and went to the doc straight away, tho it turned out that it was the dentist i need to see tho (not been in quite a long time now) as it was actually a wisdom tooth causing the problem...

I totally know how that is. I've also had many ear infections, most when i was really young. so now when i get them they are extra painful. they also get clogged up easier due to narrowing of the ear cannal from the infections. ughghghhhh....
Hope it get's better

kidq: Yeah, that would have been smart ;) Wisdom teeth are crap. Did you get it out?
Drexon: Ugh

i have always had rather bad personal hygene and often have copious amounts of waxy build up in my ears. last year it build up and hardened so badly that i couldn't hear out of my right ear for two weeks. the effect was interesting, almost surreal. it was impossible to tell which direction any sound was coming from. someone would say hey or i'd hear a car rushing toward me and i'd spin around in circles frantically trying to pinpoint it. when, after applying two full tubes of this burning wax-loosening goop, it finally cleared up it felt like i climbed out of a tiny box into the real world again.
i'have learned to take care of my ears. take care of yours too

the mooore you knooooooowwwww......
Recent blogs: hello all...

i hope you know that most of the "suffering" books presented as factual are really hoaxes.
snopes.com has a section on these & a list i believe.

i've had a lot of ear trouble. when i was a kid i had TERRIBLE earaches. up-all-night earaches. as an adult i've had a lot of ear trouble as a touring musician. apparently, one way your body gets used to constant exposure to loud shit is to make lots of extra earwax. ear candles are cool, but the ultimate way to go is to put a little hydrogen peroxide in there. there's this super loud fizzing sound, then you tip your head and it all just comes out. it's really gross but really cool too. then two years ago i burst my right eardrum while underwater. NEVER do that. it hurts worse than you can possibly imagine. really, really bad. now i'm almost back to normal, but i can notice a difference between ears at loud concerts and while doing precise mixing. blows. i also hear that if you go to the doctor they can irrigate your ears with warm saltwater and apparently that feels aaaawwwweeesooommmee.

yes indeed the ear irragation is good ever since i had the procedure done i never had problem with ear infection and i always wounder why i have like more ear wax after a noise seession and now i know why

nightowl: It's par for the course.

I gots problems too ... too painful to mention..
