--> hey, would be great to get some opinions on this track im working on..
its the first time ever i tried to record myself singing mmmmh backing choir vocals i can't sing for shit, so it became quite a cut + paste job, and still is a bit off at times.. its not very loud tho, as im a shy guy.
Very sloooow and mellow, and the chord changes are sort of erh strange at times maybe. i think thats what i dont know, or , better, can't tell anymore.
anyway, heres the first part, in its current state:

comments - thoughts - opinions would be appreciated. total crap? kinda ok? boring?

why not put this as a release? That's exactly what the section is for...
Anyway, listening now. I really like those chord changes. I can only barely make out what I think is a human voice??
It's nice like that, but it's barely audible, so it just adds a flavour rather than actually being 'singing'. No way I could make out lyrics from that.
Very soothing track there, thanks!

hey i guess youre right. should have posted as release. reason i did not is that with that freeshare site im using atm i cant do direct links. but i guess i was wrong that direct mp3 links are mandatory for releases...so, sorry. can't delete and re-submit tho, afaik?
anyway, thanx for the comment, subset. yes, i guess i should have made clearer that the , uhh, 'singing' is not really 'singing' and very subtle, or , hardly noticeable theres a big differentce if it is not there tho, its just not as obvious...

oh and yea, i certainly only 'sing' "mmmmh", no lyrics to make out!

I believe it does have to be direct link to an mp3 - many people here use the lightningmp3 for this. If you link to html, it won't work in the player.
I listened again on headphones and yes it is subtle - before I thought I was missing something. Only thing I would say now is that it sounds a bit muddled. It would be much nicer with clearer separation of 'instruments'.
and yes, next time do it as a release, you'll likely get more commentary as well - live and learn..

nothing makes multi-tracked vocals sound better or sit better than panning each track hard left/right and keeping the best take in the middle.
pan the tracks hard and then put a stereo reverb on a send- you can get away with huge reverb that way and still have clean sounding mixes.

See, I knew someone with more technical knowledge would chime in with more practical advice...
nice tip delta, thanks. I imagine this could work as well with other multi-tracked instruments - probably most appropriate where they're a 'focal point' of a mix? Is it only the hard left/right tracks that get the reverb then? The centre stays clean?
