Hi,
I've got too much time right now so I will share some things because I'm bored. Hopefully you are bored enough to look at this.
#1. I was on a team for the 48 hour film project thingy here in Portland. Basically you have 48 hours to make a movie, the catch being you have to randomly pick a genre and you are given a character that must be in it, along with a line of dialog and some prop. Our team pulled Sci-Fi; the character was Roy Schwartz, quality control expert; the prop was a balloon. Oh yeah, my role was the editor, so I got to stay up all night while everyone else slept after shooting was done. Everyone on my team was really good and I have the feeling I was the one everyone else was thinking "wow, that guy sucks" about.

#2. (Un)fortunately the showing of the above movie was scheduled at the same time as a live show I really, really wanted to see. After a great deal of back and forth Amy finally convinced me to go to the movie rather than the show. The reasoning being we could go see them play in Olympia, Washington a few days later. We'd never been to Olympia, and so we made a nice day trip out of it. We were quite shocked however when we arrive at the venue only to see just a regular old house in place of what we assumed to be a club of some sort. So we walk by, say "hi" to someone in one of the bands and walk around the block working up the courage to just walk into someone's house. Luckily, we do, and it was a really interesting show. We went to see Lymbyc Systym, who played with Montag and One AM Radio. It was great because quite actually we were in someone's living room with these great musicians. I think in the end maybe 10 people showed up and it was just a great show because we were pretty much a part of it. And despite the intimate setting everyone played as they would anywhere else. I recorded the whole thing, here is sort of an encore/jam everyone did after the show was over, basically it is all the performers fooling around together. It takes a while to get going but worthwhile to listen all the way through if you have 14 minutes. Also, the pictures are from the show.

#3. Washington DC. Same deal as Toronto I guess (if you remember that blog of mine). I'll be there for about 2 weeks starting September 8th. Incidentally the bands from #2 above are playing in DC the 9th, so that's one night covered. What about the other ones? My work will be based at the Catholic University of America and I have no idea where I'm staying or if I'll have a rental car or not. But give me some ideas please!
#4. Cleveland, Ohio. Well, exactly as #3, right after DC I'll be in Cleveland for 2 weeks, starting the 23rd I think. Now I grew up in Cleveland so I can probably think of stuff to do, but I'll certainly take advice or if you want to meet up for a jam or something. I'll bring little Nordy with me of course so I have something to do.
#5. Are you still reading? I got a new desk. And I should credit Amy with taking all the pictures. Thanks for reading!
