--> The weather was wild, howling through windows and rattling blinds, the chooks almost lost their shelter, and clothes came to life, their flight cut short by sod-making rain. Though a rare occurrence, I like to see clothes fly, as it creates a sense of freedom. That is until such time as they need to be washed.

I suppose I should have been washing clothes. But instead I started kicking and thumping the washing machine, interested in what music it might have to offer.

You can have a listen to the music created from my blog site here:

Procrastination is the parent of creativity and soon, instead of washing, I was making electronic music. In the piece below, all the samples are provided by the washing machine, over who's driving rhythms I laid some blues tunes on a MK 2. The music was fun to make and I hope you enjoy listening.

is the sound of a washing machine on spin cycle funky techno or jungle?
:P

anyone else remember that?

nice song anyhow. sound's like an arty fisher & paykel commercial

nice washing machination pic

Cartesia, you raise an interesting point, where is the quote from? Ooh, I went and took fisher and paykel comment off, don't want it to sound too much like an add.

electodan, yeah the pick is pretty cool. looks like bad weather systems on a satelite view.

it's from some old list that was floating round the internet many years ago "you know youre a raver when" . . or "you know you're jaded when" . . something about arguing over whether the washing machine was techno or jungle. . cant remember exactly haha, just brought back some memories from a different time for me.

Fun stuff. Thanks for the link.
If you're interested, another good washing machine track can be found on Kwook!'s 'immiscible' ep on onedot9 here:

Kwook! - Immiscible

Track is called washerloop. Not the same vibe as your bluesy track, but nice nontheless. Anyhoo, cheers again for sharing!

Peace

Yeah, Washerloop, nice track chimplogic.

I also contributed to the washing machine canon here:

Preview "Flanklet."

PS: Yours is much better. Rather subtler use of the sounds.

nice, interesting music. Well mixed too

i've used washers and dryers in a few songs, they make some great sounds

here's one that uses washer / dryer samples, it's a very serious study of cats

Wow, how weird, so many people here have also experimented with washing machine music! I guess you to felt the call of the washing machine...

Adjective, I quick liked that little song on your link - very cute.

Tantan, thanx for the complement.
