--> I started playing around with processing ( link ) yesterday and came up with a simple drum machine. Today I downloaded mobile processing and ported the drum machine to that, and the result is a small toy with a stylish interface to annoy your peers with. It uses the standard GM sounds and should work with most Java enabled cell phones, but I have only tried it myself on my brother's K600.

Controls:
2,4,6 and 8 - Move the marker
1 - Bass drum
3 - Snare drum
7 - Closed hi-hat
9 - Cowbell

Here's a MIDlet you can download straight to your phone:

Oh, and the GUI is scaled to fit pretty much any resolution.

very cool, ill try it as soon as i can

doesnt work on a blackberry pearl.

Works on both of my Nokias - i love it man, thanks a lot. Its a cool little toy. I'm on holiday but popped it on my phone and I'm looking forward to irritating the fuck out of my missus all weeekend long with some simple little arrangements.

Interestingly, the timing is all squiffy on my Nokia, like the processor cant quite handle keeping good time. Which adds to the charm of the thing, it's very organic sounding for a midi phone app!

Any link to some source code ?

hmmm... the GUI is working, but I can't get any sound.

It turns out that the sound library I'm using only works on phones with Mobile Media API. A list of phones that should be compatible is available here: link

works on my sony ericsson w800i!

this is great, I've been wanting to try out some stuff like this too but I didn't want to dive in from the start, so this sourcecode is very helpful! thanks for sharing.
